It's October! Who will win the World Series, or will you be watching football, hockey, or basketball (don't those last two start soon?)??

Just one word, Booky: Brett That's the sport I'm following this Fall. When you reach middle age, or whatever 54 is considered to be, this is the kind of guy that makes us proud to be over-the-hill and feeling pretty good about it. Heck, he makes me want to put on some Old Spice cologne and go out lookin' for some chicks! Mike

Who-o-o-a, there, Mike. Down, boy! Take, me out to the Ba-a-a-ll Game! I'll be following the lead-up to and the World Series, just as soon as I can stop crying about my beloved Mariners. I know, I know, compared to last year, we really turned it around this year. Just not enough to keep playing. When I HAVE to, I'll watch Brett and his buddies, but my Sunday afternoon naps will always involve GOLF.

Just one word, Booky: Brett Again?! Didn't he retire or something?

It seems to me that Brett has been retiring since 2002.
Ok, my prediction for the Series this year another classic Yankee-Dodger matchup.

Everybody loves Brett Favor.
Arghghghgh! I just can't get that r before the v! What's up with that? If you are going to pronounce it r-before-v, wouldn't rational people spell it r-before-v?!? Or is that Vulcan?
Danno, I say the Angels are going to erase the Yankers.

BB, the Angels are good. I am being sentimental in my pick, having grown up a huge Dodger fan. Should be a good playoff cycle.
And I loved Brett in "Something About Mary".

The Brett saga went on so long here that we're firmly split between pro and con. His coy seduction of the Vikings was like, um, the Dance of the Seven Veils. Will he or won't he? finally, after training camp was over, we got the longest sports press conference in history, complete with soul-searching, tearful stories about his little daughter begging Daddy to bring home another Super Bowl ring - ugh! (Guess you know where I stand on this one.)
Now the Vikes are hitting hard, demanding we pony up a mere $700 million for a new stadium, or else. Thousands were booted off healthcare, schools are closing and some classes are 40 kids, but they want their "competitive" stadium. Gosh, they're just not making enough money.

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but we do watch football. I'm a Broncos fan, through and through, including Orange Blood! BTW, Broncos are 4 - 0 so far this year.
But so are the New Orleans Saints, for whom I have a soft spot, since we lived in NOLA and had season tickets their first year as an expansion team.
And then there's the Steelers, the team from Six-burgh! I lived and worked there for 6 years, nicest city I ever lived in. Don't tell boatbabe or danno, but while living in Bellingham, I even rooted for the Steelers when they played the Seattle Seahawks.
Having lived in West Virginia for 10 years, we are also Mountaineers; despite three kids born in Denver, and being an alum of University of Colorado, it was very sweet watching WVU defeat the Colorado Buffaloes Thursday night.
I'm tired of hearing about Brett Favre.

While Brett savors his battle wounds and victory, there's an excellent game going on in the Twinkiedome.

GREAT game by the Twins and Tigers. GREAT on both parts. Too bad for Fernando Rodney -- he pitched his heart out. Congrats to you Minnesota guys and condolences to Jane.
Now the Twins need to beat the Yankees. ;D

Are you actually referring to the Pacific Ocean's Answer to the Atlantic Ocean's Killer Hurricanes? Or is this a little known but highly popular Japanese holiday, replete with parades?

I'm no good on Japanese geography, but that baby is covering a lot of territory. Mike, I've been through several of those storms and know you're up against it. First things first, you and Emi be safe. Get back to us when you can, buddy. Prayers are with you.

I just checked my weather map and Yokosuka is northeast of where this thing is coming in, and according to the currently projected track Mike and Emi will be on the east side of Melor as it moves on up the Japanese home island. This is going to be a mess.

This is going to be a mess. Hey, Jay, and everyone else, so far we're alright. The typhoon has not arrived at our front door yet but it is a bit windy right now. Nobody is at work today, we were all told to stay home. So, Emi and I are doing just that -- sitting and waiting for this thing to pass. I'll report back when the "all clear" status is issued. Mike

The center of the typhoon has passed us but we're still within its sphere of influence. The wind gusts have settled enough for us to remove the storm shutters from the windows and let some light into the house. No damage was done to the house and things in our area should be OK in an hour or two. Booky, we ran out of wine last night. Mike
