We're recording the show this week on Friday down in Lanesboro MN, a small town southeast of Rochester, along the Root River - about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from St. Paul. We'll be outdoors on the community softball field, and it's "bring your own lawn chair". If we get rained out Friday, we'll go live via satellite on Saturday.
The crew is heading down to Lanesboro on Tuesday (two days earlier than usual) to build a stage, and get the softball field ready for the shows Friday and Saturday. We'll be trying out something new for one of these types of events - a new hydraulic "stage-in-a-truck" is being brought up from St. Louis.
The whole town is in a tizzy and it's as fine a reception as I've ever seen. Tickets for the show sold out in under an hour - practically the whole town lined up at the little Chamber of Commerce office.
Being such a small town, they've had to install internet access and phone service to the field since cell coverage is sketchy; the public works dept. is bringing in 200-300 Amps of power across the Root River to augment our massive generators; they've had to reserve most of the in-town B&Bs for cast and crew; and assign the bulk of the police force to handle traffic et al; gather vounteers, etc. etc.
We'll have guitarists Joe Ely and Rob Gjersoe, the Rhubarb Sisters from the town's annual Rhubarb Festival, along with other local talent. We've rented a bunch of RVs to serve as dressing rooms on the field. We're bringing in a satellite uplink dish from St. Paul because the town doesn't have our standard ISDN service available. They're even shutting down the county highway that circles the field during the show to keep the noise level down...
More later.

Sounds like a great day (week, perhaps) for Lanesboro. Hope everybody can go with the flow.

I remember that farmer song from sometime in my distant past. Wonder where that was? Summer camp or something?
Yes, I like this homespun sound too.
