This week's APHC show is unbelievably studded with talent. Is this really live, or are they cutting and pasting a rebroadcast in order to garner all these illustrious folks together? Reading poetry: Allen Ginsberg, Meryl Streep, Billy Collins, and Rita Dove. Performing music: Randy Newman, Gillian Welch, Greg Brown, and Bob Dorough. And the Bob story sounds like a riot. I loved the last one (?) on the twenty-something talent show. On Saturday, I'll be walking at Theodore Wirth Park in the Walk for Animals for the Humane Society. Anyone wanna sponsor me? The Sweet Colleens will be providing some musical entertainment, which is what drew me to this walk in particular. I should be home in time for the show, though.

And, of course, my cheeks are burning. I suspected my faux pas and now I've just confirmed it. There's a dead give away that the show above is a rebroadcast.
ugh. ugh. d'oh!

Hello-o-o-o-o-o? Just checked in to say I'm busy cleaning and can't post much. But the joint is empty? Aren't there any poetry fans out there? Perfect irony that Randy Newman is singing "Miss You."

Good afternoon everyone.
I had to watch the Kentucky Derby before tuning in.

I get over stimulated by good poetry. I can listen to about 6 before something in my head begins to get fevered and swollen. Same thing with certain music or visual art. Dance, performance art, etc rarely does that to me tho I think the Alex Halley Ballet has come extremely close.

Hey folks. Strret sense was ridden by a little old Cajun jockey, with about 4,000 races but never a Derby win to his credit. And all the guys from the paddocks and the stables were turning out onto the track, holding up their kids to touch hime and the horse. Obviously a well thought of guy.

Yes, there were surprisingly, a lot of shots of Queen Elizabeth; must have been telephoto lens. And of course, at the Derby, everyone wears elaborate hats.
The PR said her Box Suite would be super-private, but there were still pics..

Yep, jockey Calvin Borel was a real hero to all.
The NBC reporter on a horse interviewed him within seconds of the finish - it was touching how modest, emotional and grateful he was. And the first few words out of his mouth, we could tell he was a Cajun beofre we checked the program.
Really neat.

Seeing as how it's a poetry show, it's too bad they're not doing "The Shooting of Dan Magrew" from one of the old Alaska shows.

And I'm still furiously clearing rubble off my desk so I'll be ready for company.
"All the jagged things they might have said" that's poetry right there.

A quiet night here in our Lake Woebegone, possibly appropriate for the Poetry Show.
You all have a good week, see you next week. I think that will be a live show?
G'night.
