Yep, jockey Calvin Borel was a real hero to all. And the first few words out of his mouth, we could tell he was a Cajun beofre we checked the program. So? What'd'he say? It was his accent that gave him away, not the content of his statement. But he spoke of his gratitude to his older brother, who apparently raised him, due to the absence of his parents, though that wasn't fully explained. He thanked the owners, trainer, and most of all the horse, but the details and the type of words he used were so heartfelt, so different from the usual litany of I want to thank....He was very emotional, teary-eyed, excited, overwhelmed. Thousands of rides, and finally a Derby-winning mount. It was really moving. And then, anyone who enjoys the race couldn't help but be thinking of last year, and Barbaro.
