Where would we be without archives? Listening to live radio, no doubt. But we can't expect those boys and girls from APHC to work 365 days a year, so we'll listen to repeats this weekend. Doesn't March just make you think Opera? It has that effect on GK and this is what's on the set list: Renée Fleming appearing as the great diva Renata Flambe, and Maria Jette singing the "Jell-O Aria." Also, Susan Graham will appear, as well as Bryn Terfel, Mark Thomsen, and Danny the Opera Dog. Complaints? Sorry, the complaint department has been closed. It reopens tomorrow.

How did your own personal radio show go?

Not that it is of any interest to anyone, but I might be a little late joining you live. I never saw "Gosforth Park" in a theatre and it is being broadcast on one of our channels on Saturday evening and finishes just before midnight. I regret not having made the time to see it on the big screen, so it is a "must see" for me, if you please. Of course, joining you around half-way through your programme - and comparing Gosforth Park to Lake Wobegon might be somewhat of a challenge to me. Let's see if I can cope!

My brother — the one who lives in Japan and has the musically talented wife and son — thought I'd like it so he rented it while he was here on a visit several years ago. He was right: I did like it, except for the liberal use of the f-word by the crass American. Unfortunately, my mother didn't, so we had to stop playing it until she had gone to bed. As good as the APHC show will be, it's not a bad decision to forgo part of the repeat in order to see Gosford Park for the first time.

And the advantage for you, Brit, is that the rapid-fire British accents won't leave you sputtering, "What'd he say?" We watched it on DVD with captions as it was so hard to catch all the dialogue.
Anyway, no need to apologize for opera to some of us - Renée Fleming!!!

Silly me. Gosforth is the name of at least one town in England. Half an hour before the screening, Dinah now tells me that we have the DVD! She works in mysterious ways sometimes - and never tells me anything. I don't get the Renee Fleming connection though.

The connection is that she's on right now, showing off her astonishing voice.

Darn it, Kite, that was superb! I'd listen over and over again. And here comes one that should make you cry. After that a parody. This is great stuff.

Oops, sorry. I'm one of the hidden members or whatever they call them. I just get anxious when some conversations get to the point of almost IMing, so I selected the choice of being invisible. I didn't realize that would mean it would say I was offline. Never mind all that. Yes, I'm actually someplace else altogether but I have ESP

Hi, BL. Sorry Kite seems to have left. This really is cute because it's all famous opera melodies. I suppose it doesn't seem that clever if you don't love opera.

I will pop back in to listen with all of you after I order pizza for the many noisy teenagers in our family room. I don't think they'll mind if I'm not down there with them.

Boffo! I wish I could have been there - there's nothing like a good hall resounding with one of those big choral numbers. Wish Thomas were here to tell us what's coming next. How will I manage to time any visits to the necessary room?

I've been hooked on HGTV, which has lots of house-hunting shows. This is great. An apartment with a witch's room.... lirio's teenagers would love it.
