Joni Mitchell Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way. But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone. So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way. I've looked at clouds from both sides now, From up and down, and still somehow It's cloud illusions i recall. I really don't know clouds at all. Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel As every fairy tale comes real; i've looked at love that way. But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away. I've looked at love from both sides now, From give and take, and still somehow It's love's illusions i recall. I really don't know love at all. Tears and fears and feeling proud to say " I LOVE YOU" right out loud, Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, i've looked at life that way. But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say I've changed. Something's lost but something's gained in living every day. I've looked at life from both sides now, From win and lose, and still somehow It's life's illusions i recall. I really don't know life at all. I've never really read those lyrics before. They're beautiful!

U2 "Window in the Skies"
The shackles are undone The bullets quit the gun The heat thats in the sun Will keep us when there's none
The rule has been disproved The stone has been moved The grain is now a groove All debts are removed, ooh
Oh can't you see what our love has done Oh can't you see what our love has done Oh can't you see what our love has done What it's doing to me
Love makes strange enemies Makes love when love may please Soul in a strip tease Hate brought to its knees
Sky over our head Can reach it from our bed If you let me in your heart And out of my head
Oh can't you see what our love has done Oh can't you see what our love has done Oh can't you see what our love has done What it's doing to me
Oh oh oh hhhhhhhhhhh Oh oh oh hhhhhhhhhhh Please don't ever let me out of here
I've got no shame oh no oh no
Oh can't you see what love has done Oh can't you see Oh can't you see what love has done What it's doing to me
Oh I know I hurt you and I made you cry Did everything but murder but you and I But love left a window in the skies And to love I rhapsodize
Oh can't you see what love has done to every broken heart Oh can't you see what love has done for every heart that cries Love left a window in the skies And to love I rhapsodize

Heart and soul, I fell in love with you Heart and soul, the way a fool would do, madly Because you held me tight And stole a kiss in the night
Heart and soul, I begged to be adored Lost control, and tumbled overboard, gladly That magic night we kissed There in the moon mist
Oh! but your lips were THRILLING, much too thrilling Never before were mine so strangely willing
But now I see, what one embrace can do Look at me, it's got me loving you madly That little kiss you stole Held all my heart and soul

Crossed posts, Joe.............. and the word you want to continue is...? bulletsMaybe I should have chosen "rhapsodize." BTW, I think there is an error in the third line of the second stanze. I think it is supposed to be "The grave is now a groove."

Hey! How 'bout:
You're dead set against killing You'll never go to war Peace in our time is thrilling But your reality door is closed If you should decide to resist the draft That's your God given choice Why go thousands of miles away to kill someone with no voice But think about this as it's said If their soldiers came here, you'd be dead Bullets are faster than words Home defense to keep our peace seems LOGICAL in our times Keep what's yours, it wasn't free Or be subjected to a foreign crime.

Supertramp
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a MIRACLE, oh it was beautiful, magical. And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully watching me. But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical. And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable, clinical, intellectual, cynical.
There are times when all the world's asleep, the questions run too deep for such a simple man. Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am.
Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical, liberal, fanatical, criminal. Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable, respecable, presentable, a vegtable!
At night, when all the world's asleep, the questions run so deep for such a simple man. Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am.

Trusty remarkedAnd I think only Joni Mitchell should have sung it. Her rendition will never be surpassed.
and thank you slb for giving me the lead into one of my favourite groups:
Every drop of rain that falls in sahara desert says it all Its a miracle All gods creations great and small The golden gate and the taj mahal Thats a miracle Test tube babies being born Mothers, fathers dead and gone Its a miracle
Were having a miracle on earth Mother nature does it all for us The wonders of this world go on The hanging gardens of babylon Captain cook and cain and able Jimi hendrix to the tower of babel Its a miracle its a miracle its a miracle Its a miracle
The one thing were all waiting for is peace on earth - an end To war Its a miracle we need - the miracle The miracle were all waiting for today
If every leaf on every tree could tell a story that would be a Miracle If every child on every street had clothes to wear and food to Eat Thats a miracle If all gods people could be free to live in perfect harmony Its a miracle
Were having a miracle on earth Mother nature does it all for us Open hearts and surgery (wonders of this world go on) Sunday mornings with a cup of tea Super powers always fighting But mona lisa just keeps on smiling Its a miracle its a miracle its a miracle

I. LOVE. THIS. SONG!
And Peter Cetera, too. One of the songs from our second wedding two years ago was Cetera's "After All"....but I digress.
I don't wanna lose you, I don't want you walking away; We're so good together, Tell me it's forever--'cause I want you to stay--
I'll be damned if I'm living without you, And as long as I live, you will know-- I just wanna build my world around you, Don't want you to go--
Don't leave me here with my restless heart, The one you filled with emotion, baby, Right from the start-- 'Cause the hardest part Is being alone With my restless heart....
Tell me where you want me, Anytime, I don't care; Tell me when you need me, 'Cause baby when you need me, I will be right there-- I don't wanna build a wall around you-- Don't want you to go...
Don't leave me here with my restless heart, The one you filled with emotion, baby, Right from the start; 'Cause the hardest part Is being alone With my restless heart...
I'll be damned if I'm living without you, And as long as I live, you will know-- I just wanna build my world around you, I don't want you to go...

Gracie forgot to move on to the next page. So, we've done heart and have moved on (and on) to Brit's harmony.
And I hate this song; we had to sing it over and over in grade school. HARMONY Words and Music- Norman Simon, Artie Kaplan The time has come, let us begin with all our VOICES joining in, To sing of love and brotherhood and people doing what they should, To help their fellow-man be free and fill this land with harmony, The young, the old, the rich, the poor... making sounds never heard before. Chorus Harmony, harmony, let's all join in harmony And sing away the hurt and fear A great new day will soon be here. Like the shepherd guards his sheep, watch your children as they sleep, Like the potter turns his clay... Oh, help us shape a better day. And let us sing a song of love... and there's one thing I'm certain of... That love will fill the hearts of men and peace will come on earth again. Chorus (Tag) Harmony, harmony, let's all join in harmony And sing away the hurt and fear... a great new day is here!

That's what I get for reading the last 25 posts instead of going through as I should've. Although even then I'm not sure that's where I went astray. Whatever, it was NOT a blonde moment, because I truly hate all blonde jokes. What it was, was....and I know this for sure...the result of having MY parents and GRIZZY'S parents and his twin sister and her child and mine here in our little house on the lake.....It has been QUITE the weekend!
Well, I DO love that song. ("Restless Heart", that is.) AND "Both Sides Now," although I confess to believing that Judy Collins has one of the most beautiful voices God ever created and so I love her version. I chose this song for my senior solo at the spring concert, ten thousand years ago when I was in high school....
Now I'm thinking voices (not the ones in my head...I have told them to SHUT up and sit DOWN and STAY. And they better!) and I can think of lots of songs with 'voice' in them.....but plural, now....what to do, what to do...
Aha! From college days....a one hit wonder..can one wonder??
Til Tuesday - Voices Carry Lyrics
I'm in the dark, I'd like to read his mind but I'm frightened of the things I might find Oh, there must be something he's thinking of to tear him away when I tell him that I'm falling in love why does he say
Hush hush keep it down now voices carry
I try so hard not to get upset because I know all the trouble I'll get oh, he tells me tears are something to hide and something to fear and I try so hard to keep it inside so no one can hear
Hush hush keep it down now voices carry
He wants me but only part of the time He wants me if he can keep me in line
Hush hush keep it down now voices carry
hush hush, darling, she might overhear oh, no-voices carry he said shut up he said shut up oh God can't you keep it down voices carry I wish he would let me talk

Cool! A chance to break out an old favorite:
Well, either you're closing your eyes To a situation you do now wish to acknowledge Or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated By the presence of a pool table in your community. Ya got trouble, my friend, right here, I say, trouble right here in River City. Why sure I'm a billiard player, Certainly mighty proud I say I'm always mighty proud to say it. I consider that the hours I spend With a cue in my hand are golden. Help you cultivate horse sense And a cool head and a keen eye. Never take and try to give An iron-clad leave to yourself From a three-reail billiard shot? But just as I say, It takes judgement, brains, and maturity to score In a balkline game, I say that any boob kin take And shove a ball in a pocket. And they call that sloth. The first big step on the road To the depths of deg-ra-Day-- I say, first, medicinal wine from a teaspoon, Then beer from a bottle. An' the next thing ya know, Your son is playin' for money In a pinch-back suit. And list'nin to some big out-a-town Jasper Hearin' him tell about horse-race gamblin'. Not a wholesome trottin' race, no! But a race where they set down right on the horse! Like to see some stuck-up jockey'boy Sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say. Friends, lemme tell you what I mean. Ya got one, two, three, four, five, six pockets in a table. Pockets that mark the diff'rence Between a gentlemen and a bum, With a capital "B," And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool! And all week long your River City Youth'll be frittern away, I say your young men'll be frittern! Frittern away their noontime, suppertime, choretime too! Get the ball in the pocket, Never mind gittin' Dandelions pulled Or the screen door patched or the beefsteak pounded. Never mind pumpin' any water 'Til your parents are caught with the Cistern empty On a Saturday night and that's trouble, Oh, yes we got lots and lots a' trouble. I'm thinkin' of the kids in the knickerbockers, Shirt-tail young ones, peekin' in the pool Hall window after school, look, folks! Right here in River City. Trouble with a capital "T" And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool! Now, I know all you folks are the right kinda parents. I'm gonna be perfectly frank. Would ya like to know what kinda conversation goes On while they're loafin' around that Hall? They're tryin' out Bevo, tryin' out cubebs, Tryin' out Tailor Mades like Cigarette Feends! And braggin' all about How they're gonna cover up a tell-tale breath with Sen-Sen. One fine night, they leave the pool hall, Headin' for the dance at the Arm'ry! Libertine men and Scarlet women! And Rag-time, shameless music That'll grab your son and your daughter With the arms of a jungle animal instink! Mass-staria! Friends, the idle brain is the devil's playground!
People: Trouble, oh we got trouble, Right here in River City! With a capital "T" That rhymes with "P" And that stands for Pool, That stands for pool. We've surely got trouble! Right here in River City, Right here! Gotta figger out a way To keep the young ones moral after school! Trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble...
Harold: Mothers of River City! Heed the warning before it's too late! Watch for the tell-tale sign of corruption! The moment your son leaves the house, Does he rebuckle his knickerbockers below the knee? Is there a nicotine stain on his index finger? A dime NOVEL hidden in the corn crib? Is he starting to memorize jokes from Capt. Billy's Whiz Bang? Are certain words creeping into his conversation? Words like 'swell?" And 'so's your old man?" Well, if so my friends, Ya got trouble, Right here in River city! With a capital "T" And that rhymes with "P" And that stands for Pool. We've surely got trouble! Right here in River City! Remember the Maine, Plymouth Rock and the Golden Rule! Oh, we've got trouble. We're in terrible, terrible trouble. That game with the fifteen numbered balls is a devil's tool! Oh yes we got trouble, trouble, trouble! With a "T"! Gotta rhyme it with "P"! And that stands for Pool!!!

I'm sure danno was thinking of this song. Um, SeattleDan, do you dislike that nick, danno? Don't be shy. Tell me (all your secrets)
from Gordon Lightfoot
If you could read my mind love What a tale my thoughts could tell Just like an old time movie bout a ghost from a wishin well In a castle dark or a fortress strong With chains upon my feet You know that ghost is me And I will never be set free As long as Im a ghost that you cant see If I could read your mind love What a tale your thoughts could tell Just like a paperback novel The kind that drugstores sell When you reach the part where the HEARTACHEs come The hero would be me But heroes often fail And you wont read that book again Because the endings just too hard to take
I'd walk away like a movie star Who gets burned in a three way script Enter number two A movie queen to play the scene Of bringing all the good things out in me But for now love, let's be real * I never thought I could act this way * And Ive got to say that I just dont get it I dont know where we went wrong But the feelins gone And I just cant get it back
If you could read my mind love What a tale my thoughts could tell Just like an old time movie bout a ghost from a wishin well In a castle dark or a fortress strong With chains upon my feet But stories always end And if you read between the lines Youll know that Im just tryin to understand The feelins that you lack I never thought I could feel this way And Ive got to say that I just to get it I dont know where we went wrong But the feelins gone And I just cant get it back

Oh, fer pete's sake! No one will play? It's a heartache Nothing but a heartache Hits you when it's too late Hits you when you're down It's a fool's GAMENothing but a fool's game Standing in the cold rain Feeling like a clown. It's a heartache Nothing but a heartache. Love him till your arms break Then he lets you down. It ain't right with love to share When you find he doesn't care for you. It ain't wise to need someone As much as I depended on you. It's a heartache Nothing but a heartache Hits you when it's too late . . . It ain't r'ight with love to share . . . Oh it's a heartache Nothing but a heartache. Love him till your arms break Then he let's you down It's a fool's game Standing in the cold rain Feeling like a clown. It's a heartache Love him till your arms break Then he let's you down It's a heartache

Back to Broadway Musicals, and one for me and BL (and joew, RedSox fan extraordiaire), Damn Yankees, and based on one of the best baseball novels ever, The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant:
[ROCKY] we've got to think about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game! We've go to think about the game, The game, the game! Booze and braods may be great, though they're great they'll have to wait, While we think about the game!
[ROCKY] There was that waitress back in Kansas City, Built for comfort, dumb but pretty!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
[ROCKY] Man, her perfume sure smelt sweet, Got her up to my hotel suite!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
[ROCKY] She killed a pint of gin more or less, The lights were low and she slips of her dress!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?
[ROCKY] But then I thought about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game!
[ROCKY] Oh, yes, I thought about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game!
[ROCKY] Though I got the lady high, I just left her high and dry, Cause I thought about the game!
[ALL] He thought about the game!
[SMOKEY] There was that pullman car that I got lost in, On a sleeper out of Boston!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
[SMOKEY] Compartment doors all look the same there Walked in one and there's this dame there!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
[SMOKEY] Blonde, and stacked, and absolutely bare, And nothin' separatin' us but air!
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?
[SMOKEY] But then I thought about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game!
[SMOKEY] Oh, yes, I thought about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game!
[SMOKEY] Though my heart said stay for tea, All I said was pardon me! Cause I though about the game!
[ALL] He thought about the game!
[MICKEY] When a chick gives you the eye, remember-
[ALL] Abstain!
[LOWE] When you're dyin' for some rye, remember-
[ALL] Refrain!
[HENRY] If you're losin' at crap and the clock says it's eleven, And SUDDENLY each roll you roll-"huh"- comes up a seven, And you're in the kind of dive, where men are men,
[ALL] Be polite, say goodnight, you should be in bed by ten!
[SMOKEY] When your mother bakes you cakes, remember-
[ALL] Saty thin!
[ROCKY] When you're kissin' till it aches, remember-
[ALL] Don't give in! Every rule we shall obey to be sure, Cause to win we've gotta stay, good and pure, Good and pure! Mumm.
[SMOKEY] Hey, Rock, remember those twins we took a ride with, Operatin' side by side with,
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
[SOMKEY] We're out of gas three miles from Philly,
[ROCKY] The night is warm, the sky's a dilly,
[ALL] Yeah? Yeah?
So I suggest we sleep beneath a tree
[ROCKY] Four minds with a single thought
[SMOKEY] I look at my girl,
[ROCKY] I look at mine
[SMOKEY] Then with one fell swoop-
[ALL] But then they thought about the game! The game, the game!
[ROCKY & SMOKEY] Oh, yes, we thought about the game!
[ALL] The game, the game! to our women one and all, We will see you in the fall, But for now we've got to stall, Every dame! And think about the game! Think about the game, Think about the, think about the, think about the, think about the, Think about the game!

This one is a stitch, SeattleDan. I esp. liked the line: Built for comfort, dumb but pretty! but if she's gonna down a pint of liquor, well, she's not gonna be good for much of anything. Not that it mattered, the game, you know.
He touched me, he put his hand near mine And then he touched me I felt a sudden tingle when he touched me A sparkle, a glow
He knew it...it wasn't accidental, no, he knew it He smiled and seem to tell me so all through it He knew it, i know... He's real, and the world is alive and shining I feel such a wonderful drive t'wards valentining He touched me; i simply have to face the fact He touched me... CONTROL myself and try to act As if i remember my name But he touched me...he touched me... And suddenly nothing is the same! 'cause he touched me...he touched me... And suddenly...nothing, nothing, nothing is the same

I sorry, slb (I said it that way on purpose, Betsy still says I sorry instead of I'm sorry) but I was WORKIN'!!
But I am here now....and I love your choice. Didn't they use that for some commercial somewhere in the 70s? Seems like I remember hearing that when I was a little girl and it was on the TV that I recall it. I'd forgotten how pretty it was.
Here's a pretty one! remember? Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard??
She walks in and I'm suddenly a hero I'm taken in; my hopes begin to rise-- Look at me, can't you tell I'd be so Thrilled to see the message in your eyes? You make it seem I'm so close to my dream And then suddenly it's all there...
Suddenly the wheels are in motion And I, I'm ready to sail any ocean; Suddenly I don't need the answers Cos I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you...
How can I feel you're all that matters? I'd rely on anything you say-- I'll take care that no illusions shatter If you dare to say what you should say You make it seem I'm so close to my dream And then suddenly it's all there....
Suddenly the wheels are in motion And I, I'm ready to sail any ocean; Suddenly I don't need the answers Cos I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you...
Why do I feel so alive when you're near There's no way any hurt can get through? Longing to spend every moment of the day with you
Suddenly the wheels are in motion And I, I'm ready to sail any ocean; Suddenly I don't need the answers Cos I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you.....

Are we allowed to return to Joni Mitchell to respond to this?
There is the word "illusions" but I will choose a different following word.
Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way. But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone. So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.
I've looked at clouds from both sides now, From up and down, and still somehow It's cloud illusions i recall. I really don't know clouds at all.

Ahhh, a chance to use one of my favorites, one that is all too familiar and personal....
Starry starry night paint your palette blue and grey look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills sketch the trees and the daffodils catch the breeze and the winter chills in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen they did not know how
perhaps they'll listen now.
Starry starry night flaming flowers that brightly blaze swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue morning fields of amber grain weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how
perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you but still your love was true and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night. You took your life as lovers often do;
But I could have told you Vincent this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.
Starry starry night portraits hung in empty halls frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met the ragged men in ragged clothes the silver thorn the bloody rose lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen they're not list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

I’m tired of waiting here for you While you parade around emotions. I’m sick of guessing what you’re thinking By picking petals off the daffodils.
Am I wasting my time here over hopes of us? I’m tired of guessing what you’re feeling And picking petals.
Gracie loves me. Gracie loves me not.
I tried to hold you with these hands, But you’re slipping. I’m just not strong enough I guess, Now I’m missing.
These dreams are hazing over And reality is stepping in. I know what I don’t want to hear from you But I’m listening.
I’m quivering at the thoughts. But I can’t keep waiting, wasting away. You cradled desires and hopes of us. Where are they now?
She needs me. She needs me not.
I tried to hold you with these hands, But you’re slipping. I’m just not strong enough I guess, Now I’m missing.
What’s meant to be will be Was said by some lonely man to make himself feel better. I’m drowning over again and I can’t get used to this I can’t get over this.
I guess I lost it somewhere. I guess I lost you somewhere. I tried to hold you with these hands, But you’re slipping.
I’m just not strong enough I guess, Now I’m missing.
From the pictures hanging over your bed There are just petals there. Now I’m drowning here instead And do you even care?

I’ve been told a rumour that’s been going round You got a REPUTATION and it won’t lay down But while you’re feelin’ the way you do You can keep me guessing like I keep on guessing ‘bout you
I keep on hearing you done me wrong Don’t make no difference, it won’t be long I’ll play your games, You’re soon gonna see You can fool yourself, you can fool yourself You can fool yourself, oh no, no you can’t fool me
Oh, oh, I know what you want I know what you want and that’s all right, baby Oh, oh, I know what you want I know what you want, you give it all right
Oh, oh, I know what you want I know what you want and that’s all right, baby Oh, oh, I know what you want I know what you want, you give it all right
Your mama gave you some good advice If you love this man then you won’t look twice Baby, and if you’re feeling the way you do Gonna keep me guessing, gonna keep me guessing Gonna keep me guessing like I keep on guessing ‘bout you
Gonna keep me guessing Gonna keep me guessing

You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation, they say my crazy days are through -- It’s all over town, I’m settling down, all I’m crazy about is you
There’s a bartender down at the Starlight Lounge probably wondering where I’ve been ; Cause every Saturday night he broke up the fight and sometimes he let me win; Well he would sure be shocked if he could see me sipping iced tea and watching TV, It’s Saturday night and I’m taking it easy home alone with you
You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation with the good love that you’re giving me, I used to be a hell raiser-- a heart breaker-- foot loose and fancy free; You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation, they say my crazy days are through; It’s all over town -- I’m settling down -- all I’m crazy about is you
I know the desk clerk well at the Paradise Motel and he calls me Mr Smith, Whenever I check in he winks and grins at the latest Mrs Smith I’m with; Now he probably won’t believe it’s true when he hears I gave a ring to you-- 'Cause there’ll be no more motel rendezvous for this Mr Smith
You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation with the good love that you’re giving me, I used to be a hell raiser-- a heart breaker -- foot loose and fancy free; You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation, they say my crazy days are through ; It’s all over town-- I’m settling down all I’m crazy about is you-- It’s all over town I’m settling down all I’m crazy about is you ...
I'd forgotten I even knew this one, funny how even the artist's name popped right into my head. Weird. A remnant of my long ago days as a Southern belle....so to speak.

Sittin' in a tiny table in a ritzy restaurant She was starin' at her coffee cup He was tryin' to keep his courage up By applyin' booze
And talk was small when they talked at all They both knew what they wanted There was no need to talk about it They were old enough to scope it out And keep it loose
She said, "You don't look like my type But I guess you'll do" Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous And he said, "I'll even tell you that I love you If you want me to" Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous
When they left the bar They got in his car And they drove away He drove to the family inn She didn't even have to pretend She didn't know what for
And he went to the desk And made his request While she waited outside Then he came back with the key She said, "Give it to me And I'll unlock the door"
She kept saying "I've never really done this kind of thing before, have you" Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous And he said, "Yes I have But only a time or two" Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous Third rate romance Low rent rendezvous

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday The regular crowd shuffles in There's an old man sitting next to me MAKING LOVE to his tonic and gin
He says, "Son, can you play me a melody? I'm not really sure how it goes But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete When I wore a younger man's clothes"
La la la, de de da La la, de de da da da
Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke But there's someplace that he'd rather be He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me." As a smile ran away from his face "Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place"
Oh, la la la, de de da La la, de de da da da
Now Paul is a real estate novelist Who never had time for a wife And he's talkin' with Davy who's still in the Navy And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practising politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness But it's better than drinkin' alone
(piano bridge)
Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday As the manager gives me a smile 'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see To forget about life for a while
And the piano sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"
Oh, la la la, de de da La la, de de da da da
Sing us a song, you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well, we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feelin' alright
The hottest songs from Billy Joel

Feel Like Making Love - Roberta Flack
Strollin’ in the park, watching winter turn to spring Walkin’ in the dark, seein’ lovers do their thing, mmm That’s the time I feel like making love to you. That’s the time I feel like making dreams come true.
In a restaurant, holdin’ hands by candlelight. When you’re touchin’ me, wanting you with all my might.
That’s the time I feel like making love to you. That’s the time I feel like making dreams come true.
When you talk to me, when you’re moanin’ sweet & low. When you’re touchin’ me and my feelin’s start to show.
That’s the time I feel like making love to you. That’s the time I feel like making dreams come true.
Strollin’ in the park, watching winter turn to spring Walkin’ in the dark, seein’ lovers do their thing, mmm
That’s the time I feel like making love to you. That’s the time I feel like making dreams come true.

Can't get enough of the Boss's lyrics:
I get up in the evening And I ain't got nothing to say I come home in the morning I go to bed feeling the same way I ain't nothing but tired Man, I'm just tired and bored with myself Hey there baby I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire You can't start a fire without a spark This gun's for hire Even if we're just dancing in the dark
MESSAGE keeps getting clearer Radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place I check my look in the mirror I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face Man, I ain't getting nowhere just living in a dump like this There's something happening somewhere Baby I just know that there is
You can't start a fire You can't start a fire without a spark This gun's for hire Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You just sit around getting older There's a joke here somewhere ant it's on me I'll shake this world off my shoulders Come on baby the laugh's on me Stay on the streets of this town And they'll be carving you up all right They say you gotta stay hungry Hey baby I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action I'm sick of sittin' round here trying to write this book I need a love reaction Come on now baby gimmie just one look
You can't start a fire sittin' round crying over a broken heart This gun's for hire Even if we're just dancing in the dark You can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart This gun's for hire

Spread your wings for New Orleans Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Michael, message to Michael He sings each night in some cafe In his search to find wealth and fame I hear Michael has gone and changed his name
It's a year since he was here Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Michael, message to Michael Tell him I miss him more each day As his train pulled out down the track Michael promised he'd soon be coming back
Oh tell him how my heart just breaks in two Since he JOURNEYED far And even though his dreams of fame fell through To me he will always be a star
Spread your wings for New Orleans Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Michael, message to Michael Ask him to start for home today When you find him please let him know Rich or poor, I will always love him so
Fly away, Kentucky bluebird Fly away, Kentucky bluebird Fly away, fly away, fly away, fly away...

I saw the wayward traveler, in garments tattered clad, And traveling up the Mountain, it seemed that he was sad. His back was laden heavy, his strength was almost gone, But he shouted as he journeyed, "Deliverance will come."
Then palms of victory, crowns of glory, Palms of victory I shall wear.
The summer sun was shining, the sweat was on his brow, His garments worn and dusty, his step seemed very slow. But he kept pressing onward, for he was wending home, Still shouting as he journeyed, "Deliverance will come."
The songsters in the ARBOR, that stood beside the way, Attracted his attention, invited his delay. His watchword being Onwards, he stopped his ears and ran, And shouted as he journeyed, "Deliverance will come."
I saw him in the evening, the sun was getting low, He had overtopped the mounting, and reached the vale below. He saw the golden city, his everlasting home, And shouted, "Hosanna, deliverance will come."
While gazing on the city, just o'er the narrow flood, A band of holy angels came from the throne of God, They bore him on their pinions safe o'er the dashing foam, And joined him in his triumph. Deliverance has come.
