Oho, you thought you could GET me! But noooooooooooooooooooo. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Well, this one works for me anyway. What say YOU? She had a long line of lovers, Mostly the gambling kind-- I didn't want to be like the others And get left behind; I heard about her bad reputation And how she had a heart of stone, How she'd give a man a moment of pleasure To get what she wants... I had a weakness for her kind of woman I could never deny-- I knew I wouldn't ever see it coming 'Til I was lost in her eyes; But the more I tried to keep her at a distance The more I became aware, She was breaking down my resistance 'Til I no longer cared... (CHORUS) Tonight I saw the red, red rose and the yellow moon, Shining on the silhouette lying in the shadows of my bedroom; I knew it when we made love and I couldn't quit calling her name That I'd been hit by another fast movin' train -- I'd been hit by another fast movin' train... I wondered as I lay there and held her Why can't this be real-- And why the fear wouldn't let me tell her How good she made me feel; I doubted if she would even be around when the morning comes, I waited 'til she fell asleep to whisper,"Baby, look what you've done." (REPEAT CHORUS TWICE) I actually happen to love this song, and this band (Restless Heart) so this was a piece-o-cake.

Hey pups. I'm accepting it mightily. Merci beaucoup!
The Beatles - Let it Be Lyrics
When I find myself in times of trouble, mother MARY comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see, there will be an answer. let it be.
Let it be, let it be, .....
And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me, shine until tomorrow, let it be. I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, .....

Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary, hair of gold and lips like cherries. It's good to touch the green, green grass of home. Yes, they'll all come to meet me, arms reaching, smiling sweetly. It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.

I was hoping to use this one, Under the Cherry Moon, by Prince, but it's not quite right. So I'll settle for my second song below.
How can I stand 2 stay where I am? Poor butterfly who don't understand Why can't I fly away in a special sky? If I don't find my destiny soon I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon
I want 2 live life 2 the ultimate high Maybe I'll die young like heroes die Maybe I'll kiss U some wild special way If nobody kills me or thrills me soon I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon
That's alright
Lovers like us dear are born 2 die If they don't find us, what will we do? I guess we'll make love under the cherry moon I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon
Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries Life is just a bowl of cherries Don't take it serious, Life's too mysterious You work, You save, You WORRY so But you can't take your dough When you go, go, go
So keep repeating "It's the berries." The strongest oak must fall The sweet things in life To you were just loaned So how can you lose What you've never owned
Life is just a bowl of cherries So live and laugh, aha! Laugh and love Live and laugh, Laugh and love, Live and laugh at it all!

Dire Straits did this:
Baby I see this world has made you sad Some people can be bad The things they do, the things they say But baby I'll wipe away those bitter tears I'll chase away those restless fears That turn your blue skies into grey Why worry, there should be laughter after the pain There should be sunshine after rain These things have always been the same So why worry now Baby when I get down I turn to you And you make sense of what I do I know it isn't hard to say But baby just when this world seems mean and cold Our love comes shining red and gold And all the rest is by the way Why worry, there should be laughter after pain There should be sunshine after rain These things have always been the same So why worry now

I miss bookie terribly. This one's for her.
I Shall Be Released by Bob Dylan
They say everythin' can be replaced Yet every distance is not near So i remember every face Of every man who put me here.
I see my light come shinin' From the west unto the east Any day now, any day now I shall be released.
They say every man needs protection They say every man must fall Yet i swear i see my reflection Some place so high above this wall.
I see my light come shinin' From the WEST unto the EAST Any day now, any day now I shall be released.
Now yonder stands with me in this lonely crowd A man who swears he's not to blame All day long i hear his voice shoutin' so loud Cryin' out that he's been framed.
I see my light come shinin' From the west unto the east Any day now, any day now I shall be released.

OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat; But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth, When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!
Rudyard Kipling of course.

You're thinking of the first few lines of "Buttons and Bows."
Meanwhile....
How many place has she tried to make a home And before we got our roots down, I was ready to move on; I haven't made it easy She's had to carry all the load--
She must have a strong heart to keep on loving me After all she's been through, why else would she believe? Knowing I'm a dreamer and that's all I'll ever be She must have a strong heart to keep on loving me....
I know she's had her own dreams, but she had to let them go, I know it's had to hurt her, but she never let it show; She's never tried to change me And she's never changed her mind--
She must have a strong heart to keep on loving me the way she does After all she's been through, why else would she believe? Knowing I'm a dreamer and that's all I'll ever be She must have a strong heart to keep on loving me
She must have a strong heart to keep on loving me....
I love TG Sheppard. Anyone else out there know his "Slow Burn"??

Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A BROTHERHOOD of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

I have this one, Gracie. From Frank Loesser's great musical, How To Succed In Business Without Really Trying:
Now, you may join the Elks, my friend, And I may join the Shriners; And other men may carry cards As members of the Diners.
Still others wear a golden key Or small Greek letter pin; But I have learned there's one great club That all of us are in.
There is a Brotherhood of Man, A Benevolent Brotherhood of Man, A noble tie that binds All human hearts and minds Into one Brotherhood of Man.
Your lifelong membership is free. Keep agivin' each brother all you can. Oh aren't you proud to be In that fraternity, The great big Brotherhood of Man?
So, Wally, before you consider firing everybody, remember this:
One man may seem incompetent, Another not make sense, While others look like quite a waste Of company expense.
They need a brother's leadership, So please don't do them in. Remember mediocrity Is not a mortal sin.
They're in the Brotherhood of Man, DEDICATED to giving all we can. Oh, aren't you proud to be In that fraternity, The great big Brotherhood of Man?
You, you got me; Me, I got you, you!
Oh, that noble feeling, Feels like bells are pealing, Down with double-dealing, Oh Brother!
You, you got me; Me, I got you, you!
Your lifelong membership is free. Keep agivin' each brother all you can. Oh aren't you proud to be In that fraternity, The great big Brotherhood of Man?

Well Done Dan!
I thought we had come to a halt, but
While I'm far away from you my baby I know its hard for you my baby Because its hard for me my baby And the darkest hour is just before dawn
Each night before you go to bed my baby Whisper a little prayer for me my baby And tell all the stars above This is dedicated to the one I love
PS Is it really true that the darkest hour is just before Dan dawn?

We just had whisper back about ten posts ago. No problem. Whisper is a good word. Also, I'm using Thomas' rule of thumb and not requesting a word if I can't respond myself. Therefore, I, too, know another song with the word brotherhood in it. But here's whisper:
Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find
Should've known better
I feel so unsure as I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor as the music dies, something in your eyes calls to mind the silver screen and all its sad good-byes
I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend and waste the chance that I've been given so I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you
Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend to the heart and mind ignorance is kind there's no comfort in the truth pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend and waste this chance that I've been given so I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you
Never without your love
Tonight the MUSIC seems so loud I wish that we could lose this crowd Maybe it's better this way We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say
We could have been so good together We could have lived this dance forever But noone's gonna dance with me Please stay
And I'm never gonna dance again guilty feet have got no rhythm though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend and waste the chance that I've been given so I'm never gonna dance again the way I danced with you
(Now that you're gone) Now that you're gone (Now that you're gone) What I did's so wrong that you had to leave me alone

OK! Reading that was quite beautiful! Puts me in the mood for dancing with "Lady in Red" by Chris de Burgh - but that is another story!
As I read your posting, on my TV monitor next to my PC monitor it was the final few bars of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (live from the Royal Albert Hall) and I read your posting to the music I was listening to!
I'm off topic, but I don't care. I had to say this.
So! Carry on with SLB's music please.

Joni Mitchell
Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way. But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone. So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.
I've looked at clouds from both sides now, From up and down, and still somehow It's cloud illusions i recall. I really don't know clouds at all.
Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel As every fairy tale comes real; i've looked at love that way. But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away.
I've looked at love from both sides now, From give and take, and still somehow It's love's illusions i recall. I really don't know love at all.
Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "I LOVE YOU" right out loud, Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, i've looked at life that way. But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say I've changed. Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.
I've looked at life from both sides now, From win and lose, and still somehow It's life's illusions i recall. I really don't know life at all.

I love you, Samantha, And my love will never die. Remember, Samantha, I'm a one-gal guy. Together, Samantha, We could ride a star and ride it high. Remember, Samantha, I'm a one-gal guy. And if some distant day You decided to say, "Get along, go away, goodbye!" Remember, Samantha, I'm a one-gal guy. Remember, Samantha, I'm a one gal guy.

Alan Price sang:
But this is England on a winter's afternoon There is no sun, there's just a pale and tardy moon And chivering sparrows on the smoking chimney tops And all the children suffer from cold and flue and raindrops
Lord, don't stop the carnival Lord, don't stop the carnival You'll never find a better way Lord, don't stop the carnival Let us sing the night and day away Lord, don't stop the carnival
Sunshine I'm only dreaming Sunshine I'm only dreaming
T-t-t-t-t-t only dreaming T-t-t-t-t-t only dreaming

And I'm so glad that no one has taken up this word. Can you believe that one of my sister's best friends gave the eulogy at Jaci's funeral and SANG this song? I don't know how she did it. One of my favorite songs:
Why should I feel discouraged Why should the shadows come Why should my HEART feel lonely And long for heaven and home? When Jesus is my portion A constant friend Is he His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches over me His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me
I sing because I'm happy I sing because I'm free His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me (he watches me) His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches, I know he watches, I know he watches me
I sing because I'm happy I sing because I'm free His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me (he watches me) His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me
He watches me, he watches me I know he watches me
