Well, gk, if Leonard Cohen's version of "Hallelujah" isn't it, I need more info.
Does Jerry remember it as being sung by a man? What time period? I just went through 18 pages on youtube. What specifically does he remember about it?

What specifically does he remember about it? Oh, Babe, i wish I'd posted before you went to all that work. It's So ironic. Finally last night he saw a re-run of the TV show that ended with the version he loved. The credits said Jeff Buckley, which is the first CD I bought and which he flat out rejected. Then I bought Wainwright, and later John Cale, an OP disc that went out of print for a reason. All we can figure is that the early recording on the CD I bought had been improved upon for the show. Thanks for all your work! If you ever see "Without A Trace" with a hostage-taking by a man grieving over 9/11, be sure to listen to the final music. Oh, it's a two-parter, so you could just watch for the 2nd half if you're not a fan.

Thanks for posting these, Babe! Couple things....Check out the guy on the Tenor Sax, with the long hair; he's from the Blues Brothers' Band! And looking at old film of Linda Ronstadt, I can remember one of the many reasons Gov. Jerry Brown got the nickname "Gov. Moonbeam". He and Linda dated for awhile, during the time we were living in California back in the late 70's, early 80's. The Gov and Linda had been on a trip to Africa together when she got fed up and came home early. Seems old Jerry was staying busy studying irrigation projects, out in the countryside. The general consensus was he should have paid more attention to Linda's plumbing....

Thanks, Jay!
So, this is my homily to Phoebe Snow. She died last Tuesday, four years after her brain damaged daughter, whom she took care of for 31 years. Phoebe was only 60 years old.

Today for Music Hour we listened to a Robert Shaw Chorale CD of patriotic songs, Here's The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Crank up your speakers, for 5 minutes that will bring tears to your eyes. No need to look at the pictures, just close your eyes and listen. Happy Independenece Day. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVsNCllEHD0

After the Kennedy Center honored Meryl Streep, I was amazed at this:

Don't you hate those people who can do EVERYTHING and are gorgeous besides?
I'm always amazed when I see "movie stars" who can also dance and sing. I saw "Chicago" in NYC and Jacques Dambois' daughter played the lead. She was a terrific dancer, had a wonderful voice, acted up a storm and was beautiful. How come some people get all those gifts and I.....don't?

She laughed and started pointing out her perceived flaws.

Meryl Streep sounds like a very normal person, hard to find in show business. She's been married to the same man (her only marriage) for over 30 years and has three grown children. Very few "stars" have that kind of stability.
