OOOOOH! This is gonna be fun. I just found out that the "Member Rankings" (the "stars" right under your name on the left) is COMPLETELY PROGRAMMABLE! In other words, we can make it whatever we want.
The current default "rankings" are:
POSTS...NAME...............STARS
0..........New Member.......1 50........Junior Member.....2 100......Full Member.........3 250......Senior Member.....4 500......God......................5
This means we can change any aspect of these PLUS add up to 5 more levels if we want! (The stars would change color.) I was thinking about starting a poll, BUT a poll is a choice of candidates, and this thing has too many variables from which to choose.
So, here's what we're gonna do: If you had the chance to change the number of posts and/or the name of the level, and/or add more levels, what would you do? (For instance, I would change the "God" name to something else - or make the number of posts to reach the "God" level somewhere over a billion.)
Please post your suggestions. You may post more than once as you get new ideas. And your child will be proud when he or she says, "Hey! My Mom & Dad CREATED the "Kowabonga-Dopey Level" and posted the necessary 276,436 posts to achieve it!!!"

It's fun to send someone karma, but I think some folks aren't as comfortable with it. I'm not competitive and I really don't like to make someone else feel uncomfortable. I'd prefer to just leave it/ignore it.
Let me karma-tize someone when I feel frisky and I'm happy with that.

Im a little umcomfortable with the designation "God," for the top level. Maybe we could have soemtihng like "Lieutenant God," Or "A Deity-like figure".

Yeah, I'd agree. I don't want to use G-d at all.

Seven designations based on the Dwarfs.
Bashful -- 0 Posts Sleepy -- 50 Posts (We want to be encouraging to new members) Sneezy -- 200 Posts (But not too encouraging) Grumpy -- 500 Posts (It should take some amount of toil before you are permitted to be grumpy) Happy -- 700 Posts (But we don't want you to be grumpy forever) Doc -- 1000 Posts (Just about the equivalent of a dissertation) Dopey -- 2000 Posts (Isn't this how we ended up here in the first place?)
;D

If your gonna "smite", do it like it was meant to be done.
( it seems that inserted images are only available for viewing on the computer that inserted them. Darn It All. )
A tip of the hat to Gary Larson.

I vote for lirio's contribution toward rankings. And yes, if you're gonna smite, own up to it, damnit. I gotta go biking. It's in the 70s here and I ate a huge lunch. could I be too attached to this site?

Intelligent Designer is very good; and I love lirio's suggestion.
If you can't fiddle with the level that causes status to change, go with PT. If you can make it go with lirio's increments and titles, I'd love to see it.
I also think the changes come too quickly in the existing system.

Lirio, it's great! We'll keep this open a week because there are so many creative cronies here. By that time Joe will be pushing Doc.....

AND I'm going to experiment with smiting - gonna try smiting myself to see if we can get minus ratings.

Well c'lion, I just smote you for the DOG post, because you asked for it. Of course, that only reduces your karma from 3 to 2, and now I'm blocked from smiting and exalting for a while. Meanwhile I have to retire. But you need not wonder about negative karma points. The first day this site opened, a couple of us experimented and found that smiting someone with 0 karma points gives them -1.
