Danno, when you have time, let us know the details. Are you not going to be listing through the ABE site (or whatever, I forget). Your newsletter invited people to help pack books, but I don't have enough frequent flyer miles to get out there - otherwise, there's nothing I like better than hauling books around.

Thanks, guys. I will try to post now and then on the move and keep everyone posted.
Yes, we will continue to sell books on-line. The place we have purchased in Hoquiam has a huge basement/garage where we can set up. We will continue to list on Abebooks. com and biblio.com, as well as sell through a new and improved website, which we're in the process of setting up now. The added bonus for us is that we will be able to cash out our new home and pay neither a mortgage or a rent. Dramatically reduced overhead.
We're very excited...not so excited about packing boxes and loading trucks...but excited about a new life.

You girls need more input? Oh, wait, that didn't come out right. Gosh. That didn't either. Sorry, I'm just making it hard on myself. Help.

Now how do we get from bookstores to libidos? What kind of store do you think I run, anyway?
We closed with the buyer of our home today; we close on the house in Hoquiam tomorrow morning. Tammy is packing furiously. We do have until June 15th to be out of the house and June 30th to be out of the store. Much to do....

Glad to see you're still truckin, Dan. Pictures would be nice, but that's probably out of the question. Maybe Tony could do a slide show of all the activity from now till moving day, complete with sound track. Maybe you and your helpers doing a box boogie shuffle to "Stayin Alive."

Say Dan, can you get your customers to help pack and move?
I remember back in the day, when we lived in Denver, helping Tattered Cover Books with their moves on two different occasions. Once just across the street, and once down the block. When they moved last year, it was a couple miles from Cherry Creek to Colfax Avenue; I don't know if customers helped then.
I can kinda see a caravan of cars loaded with books, trekking from Seattle to Hoquiam....

I had relatives in Hoquiam a few years back....no longer, sadly...I never thought I'd hear that name again. Have you read "Onions in the Stew"? Betty MacDonald? it's about life on Vashon....

Gracie: I think you and I have the same reading list. I love Betty McDonald! I've read "The Egg and I", "The Plague and I", "Onions in the Stew" and "Anybody Can Do Anything." I'm sure they are all out of print now, but they are so funny!

I'm sure they are all out of print now, but they are so funny! I got a used copy of "Onions" from Barnes and Noble a few years ago; I've found "Egg" in several thrift shops and then lucked right into reprints of "Anybody" and "Plague." (who would think you could make TB funny!) There used to be this great mail order catalog called A Common Reader, and they sold reprints of good books--that's where I got those two. Their catalogs were great reads, as well, sort of like the J. Peterman catalogs (which I also get.) Did you like her kid books? The Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books? and what about "Nancy and Plum"? And oh! have you tried Betty's sister, Mary Bard? She's just as funny, I swear! I paid a ridiculous sum for a used copy of "Just Be Yourself," and it's one of my greatest possessions. It's about Brownie scouts, and since I used to be a Girl Scout, it was just sooooo much fun to read. I have a feeling we must have been separated at birth, Jane.....

O.M.G. Yes, I love that book by Mary Bard! Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is wonderful, and I even have a copy of "Nancy and Plum"!
I think Betty McDonald died young from some smoking-related ailment. I don't know about her sister.
