I love the laughing baby. We should all laugh so much, just once a day, if not more.

Here's something to tickle your funny bone. It's an irreverant look at NPR. ThoS. send this to GK, he'd get a kick out of it. Well, I think so.

Trusty! This is so cool!
I analyzed my handwriting. Look what it reveals.....(keeping in mind that none of you know what my actual penmanship looks like, but still.....)
You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, and appearance. You are ambitious. You are affectionate, sympathetic, passionate, and expressive. You are a talkative person. You are an independent person and do not depend other peoples' opinions.

Someone showed us how to find an exact address, right down to the shape of your roof or your neighbor's garage. Does anyone remember how to do that? It might have been connected with some real estate site. I've tried Google maps and can't get down to trees and buildings.

It was Brit! Remember when he showed us Maiden Head? Brit, please find that link again.
I loved the IPR bit, especially all the dulcet-toned announcers. And the Award for Bleak Fiction, so with it, so avant-garde, so 21st Century.

Thanks, Bl. I thought I already had Google Earth but had to download it again. So now what? I can't seem to find a place to type in an address.

I've been missing the comments made on this thread recently until now!
Gailkate! After opening google earth, there is a single line space at the top left hand corner. Enter your city for example.
When google stops spinning it should then zoom in.
Either use the slide at the top right hand corner to the plus for up close or the minus for a view from further away.
Alternatively, what I invariably do is left double click on a particular place and it should zoom in until you click once. It should stay there until you do something else with your mouse.
Like try right double-click and see what happens.
Tip: At bottom left of front page there is a list of layers. I tend to have 'roads' checked so I can get my bearings, but you can personalise the layers with anything you want - if you get clever! Uncheck roads if you don't want it anytime.
copy the next line below and paste it into the vacant space at the top left under eg
44 56 32.21 n 93 05 26.59 w
By pasting that in without changing the spaces you should be taken to Raspberry Island St Paul MN at the bottom of Jackson Street. I was actually looking for Fitzgerald Street where I thought the theatre might be but to no avail.
Let me know if it doesn't work.

Here is the Fitzgerald: 44 56 56.32 n 93 5 49.65 w You can see the top of the marquee to the north, a couple of satellite dishes on the roof, and the loading dock to the rear (in the alley). MPR's headquarters are close by too: 44 56 57.48 n 93 5 45.25 w And here are our humble offices: 44 57 29.09 n 93 12 25.59 w You can barely make out the 400ft. red and white antenna that's in our "back yard."

I can hardly see the antenna Thomas, but I certainly can see the shadow it makes!!!

Now I'm excited about playing with this. Unfortunately, there's all the primary coverage to watch, so I may not be able to concentrate on it till tomorrow. Thanks!

I like it! A lot! I love the bit about guessing as she cooks, and making banana stone instead of banana bread....she'll get the hang of it. She's smart, obviously....(it runs in the family! )

I checked out the sex offender map and found several who weren't black, slb, so it doesn't seem biased in that way. What sruck me was how much people of all colors look alike - enough so that it would be very hard to watch out for any of these predators. It's amazing that line-ups are ever successful, although if you're a victim I guess a face could be seared in your memory.

gk, the more one acquaints oneself with people who don't look like them, the less similar that "other" group looks. (said kindly from my experience)
I do understand what you mean, but truly have found that individual characteristics emerge as I learn to look for them. It's only happened a couple of times that, for work, I've attended a function of two to three hundred people and I was the only non-black person there. My head starts to swim a bit at those times, but I also see uniquenesses much more clearly after those instances.
