Here are a couple of links to emoticon sites. 1. If you click on any emoticon on this site, all you need to do is cut and paste the web address. It already includes the bracket thingies. emoticons4u.com/index.htm2. For this site, find your emotion, and click on it. Then copy it. Come back here and click on the picture frame in the tool bar above. Then paste the address here between the brackets. www.pushupstairs.com/images/emoticon/eviewer.phpClear as mud? Who said I'm a teacher?! (clicked on picture frame, went to pushupstairs on a second window, find the emoticon I wanted to use, clicked on it, copied it, and pasted it between the IMGs.) For aesthestics and fun. Modified to add the emoticon site addresses. In honor of Paul........SIGH!

Someone asked me to post a pic on this site rather than reveal their e-mail address (which is perfectly reasonable and understandable).
I can't work out how to do it. Any advice anyone?
I see the icon for insert image but what do I do next?

Brit, I think the picture has to be ..... what's the terminology? "on the internet" is how I'd say it, but I know there is something more accurate. In other words, it can't just be a picture you have scanned on to your computer.
If it's got a web address, try hitting the icon above with the picture frame, then paste the address between the two IMG brackets. Usually that words, though for some odd reason, not always.

So booklady, if I understand your response to Brit, we cannot insert pictures into our posts unless they are already "published" on the web someplace and can be accessed using the URL address? like http://www. etc???

If that's the case, then I know you can post pictures at gather.com by just uploading them from your computer. If you do that, then you'd have a URL to use to post here. Maybe posting them at yahoogroups.com also works to get them a URL.

If that is the case, let's see what happens now: Nothing! I took the url of the pic I posted of Rolf Harris and myself in the edsfam and moosie Yahoo thingy and inserted it neatly between those square brackets and nothing. Now try this as a matter of fact for yourself to see if I got the right pic. (no nasty trick here folks) http//.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/APHC-Chit-Chat/photos/view/72c1?b=5 Modified to claim no result. Sob sob.

You guys are BAD!
(Fervently hoping that Sisterbeer does not feel compelled to post an emoticon detailing this predicament. Realizing that if she DID feel so compelled, a dwarf named Droopy might be appropriate. Leaving this thread now before I get myself banned.)

;DAhem, clearing one's throat: (Combined quote) Now, is this a problem you ladies are having with your menfolk or is this a problem they are having with you? I'm kinda busy right now, and in any case it would be a long stretch for me to get to your part of the world. Maybe doctorK could advise y'all but I think she is considering to come to see me instead!!! I was going to say there are times when I miss Brutus, but that could be taken the wrong way!

And I echo your sentiments about Brut; luckily, no one will take my comment the wrong way. There's only one way to take it.

Does anyone have any idea why I no longer see those little dwarfs by our names? If you mean the little blue faces with the white caps, I still see them. Maybe its time for a checkup on your eyes — get a new prescription for your glasses. Meanwhile this suggests a good line for a movie script. "I see little dwarfs."

I don't see them. I just see a space with a box around it holding space for a picture.
Holding space....hmmm, this could get to be New Age-y, huh, 'lion?

This happens to me too. It's happening now. All the icons disappear, but if you drag your mouse thingie over the space where they should be, you can still get them to work (as you can see by my italics and eye rolling). I thought it was just me, because my computer's been operational but screwed up for a while. Sometimes refreshing helps, sometimes restarting, sometimes nothing. I am not much help.

Now that the "smilies" have started working for me, I want to see what the "add tags" do.
Here's B, and here's I.
Now for U and next we try S.
[glow=red,2,300]How about G?[/glow]
[shadow=red,left,300]D looks as if it might be interesting[/shadow] then skipping the things having to do with alignment, I'll try the size button.
Of course colors are pretty straightforward.
I'll leave the rest for now. I'm heading out for a local theater group's performance of Macbeth.[/b]

The trouble with trying to explain this is that if one actually types in what appears on the screen when you're typing the message, it disappears when you post it. But in the bit I quoted above, one thing that looks wrong is that the words "and she turned green with envy …" are inside a set of brackets instead of between two sets. What you need is " …=Purple]and she turned … buds got it right[/co…]"
