Apparently a bunch of states are considering holding their presidential primaries on February 5 next year. This strikes me as likely to be a very good development. It should make it possible to stop any bandwagon effect from taking over. What I hope will happen is that no candidate will emerge with anything like a majority of the votes or a commanding lead in convention delegates. Then there could be open conventions in which there can be alliance-building and some real consideration by party leaders of who would be the best candidate.
What do you think?
