A Prairie Home Companion has returned to the roost and we hens & cocks are all crowing with delight. Out of the southeast coast comes Robin & Linda Williams but baby we've got Jearyln Steele belting us with her home-grown gospel. Once again we'll hear the amazing horn section that piped up in St. Louis-- Dave Bargeron, Jon-Erik Kellso, and Kathy Jensen--and I'm am soooo grooving on horns lately.
The regular cast as well.
I'll have luxuriated over Pat Donohue the evening prior to the APHC show at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis for a solo gig. Just btw.

WHAT?! Seeing Pat in the flesh ( ;D ) has become a "by the way"?
Enjoy, slb, and think of me. But don't, er, throw anything at him.

WHAT?! Seeing Pat in the flesh ( ;D ) has become a "by the way"? Enjoy, slb, and think of me. But don't, er, throw anything at him. It's the hot-date that Ace and I are embarking on. Dinner, Pat, then back to the hotel. My folks are holding down the fort. They raised me, so I figure they know what they're in for...and if not, well, I'll offer to paint their house or something.

Hey bookie, why do so many of these threads end up with at least a little bit of talk about our hotties? 'Spose we could keep it on topic, here, huh?

This weekend is the best part of Mardi Gras festivities, at least in NOLA.

Really, docK? Mardi Gras isn't until the 20th. Figured the biggest parties would be next weekend.

The biggest nonstop part does start next Friday and runs through early Wed morning.
But I think it's too crazy, plus you can't get dinner reservations at the best restaurants. So this weekend - the weekend before the weekend before - is the Best!
The parades started last night, the crowds are mainly local, and you can catch a lot more beads and doubloons. Much more fun.

Of course last year, since it was the six-month anniversary of Katrina, and it was scaled way back, it was a really nice Mardi Gras, best I've ever been to.

Do you think if I sent out those sheets of tear apart Valentines, people would forgive me for failing to send the Christmas cards?

Yes! I didn't send out Christmas cards, either. I always do, but this year. nope. Valentine's Day cards is a good idea.

I'm terribly chatty tonight. I've had too much coffee today and I'll be pouring some down later this evening before I go dancing, too.

Yeah - since the katrina volunteer work last year, I've been wanting to move back. I went to high school there, it kind of sticks in your blood. I know what it means to miss new orleans....
I don't know what will happen though.

Pretty good show, so far. I do enjoy this horn section, not that the regular Shoes don't make a whole lot of music.
