Last show of the year, folks. I wonder if I'll get to not only listen, but post here? -sigh-
But enough of my woes, here's the run down:
American bebop jazz pianist and vocalese singer Bob Dorough, (I'm not familiar with this guy) (but I do know this next lady) jazz singer Prudence Johnson will be entertaining us. How's Pru like being out in NYC, Thomas?
The Shoe Band includes early jazz superhero Vince Giordano and fiddler extrodinaire Andy Stein. Swooning, here
Enjoy, cupcakes.

Bob Dorough is a famous jazz pianist. He wrote a lot of stuff for the old Schoolhouse Rock series, among other things. He and Prudence are working up some Hoagy Carmichael duets for the show tonight (he's a hero of hers, and SHE'S swooning) ;-)
Don't forget our New Year's show from the Ryman Sunday night. We're looking at a 21 hour day for those of us on the crew, and the radio/TV break cues are enough to drive anyone to drink. Between TV's mandatory 10 sec. FCC profanity delay, the countdowns to midnight for four time zones, the delays from the uplink/downlink to the satellites, we've got our hands full coming up with a running schedule for the day.
Don't know if I'll be able to post during that show, but I'll do my best - I've got to keep a handle on our countdown timers and take care of the audio feeds to the TV truck, so we'll see how it goes. It's shaping up to be quite a show though...
:-)
See you all later. Oh, and tomorrow's show is actually getting recorded tonight, so I won't be posting in real time. I'll see what I can do about getting a rundown/final "as done" posted beforehand.
We're on a plane in the early AM and rehearsing for Sunday in a Nashville hotel tomorrow, so I'm not sure where I'll be when the show actually airs.
If I don't get another chance - Happy New Year, everyone!

Thomas, I think you mentioned at one time that the New Year's Eve show would be broadcast (televised) on PBS. What's the scoop on that? edit: Rats, looks like I just missed him. OK, I won't be lazy -- I'll do my own research. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Merry (last eight days of) Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, Thomas.
Sounds like quite an undertaking for the New Year's Eve show. Looking forward to it.

Seems like something has been going on every Saturday for the past 4 months, and this one is no exception. Dec. 30th: Strawberry and me, 24th anniversary, and reservations at (get this) The Oar House. It's a fancy restaurant overlooking the river, but I won't be looking at the river! I'll try to be here for the New Year's eve thing. Happy New Year everyone!

Dec. 30th: Strawberry and me, 24th anniversary, and reservations at (get this) The Oar House. … It looks as if you need to turn into a recluse. Of course, you'll have to persuade the S'berry to join you in that.

Trusty, I followed the link, and it looks like a great place! Belay my comment about becoming a recluse until after you've enjoyed your dinner there! Happy Anniversary! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

He was on top form.

What I remember most is Billy Collins reading his wonderful poem about the mouse and the match. I think that was also the first time I ever heard Jearlyn Steele!
What were those memorable comments, brit?

I think Trusty had a libation or two, but it was so funny.
Nearly as daft as our first conversation.
I was drying the tears from my eyes all through the show.

Oh! I thought you meant Garrison's comments during the show.
As regards show threads and the comments of our posting friends, I have to say that Old Sourdough has been very much on my mind in recent days. I was not yet posting in the Chatterbox last New Year's Eve, but spent the evening listening to the show online, reading comments, and then listening to the New Year's Eve special that followed the show. OS was such a genial, relaxed presence. It is strange to think of his voice being silenced.

Thanks for that re-run bookie!
I laughed nearly as much as I did the first time.
The classic is: Trusty said:
There were several other classy lines later. He was on top form.
But where will lipwack and indigo and Clarissa Ann to name but a few be this year?
So thanks for the link. I enjoyed re-reading it. I've made it a "favourite" to reflect in my dotage.
PS modified to say I re-read that old link and now I can't get it back to rejoice in some of Trusty's other ripostes.

Looking forward to upbeat happy stuff after all the statements, videos, comments, blogs etc of the day. We had a little snow today, the brown ground is finally slightly white, and all is right with the world - at least this part of the world.

I think he was suggesting that it is no longer the Capital, not Capitol.
That's in Washington.
Even I know the difference.
