APHC will be at the Golden Horseshoe city of Buffalo. I'm betting that's Buffalo, NY, not MN. And holy cow, there's going to be two Celtic groups, The Boys of the Lough and The Battlefield Band; this coincides with my new-found passion for Celtic music. Let's see if they get me dancing the way the Sweet Colleens do!! All the regulars like Tim and Sue and Fred (!!whee!!) And my teddy bear sweetie, Andy Stein sits in, natch, as they are in his state. Ah, not his state of chaotic insanity (also known as inspired creativity), but his state of New York. bookie pines for pat and susie pines for andy ==sigh== ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)

I will not be able to join you all for the live show tomorrow night. Would someone please take good notes and send them to me!!! Since my local PBS radio station does not play the show over on Sunday, I will have to wait for the archives... but I will enjoy listening to the show and reading the posts!!!! Have a great week-end everyone.

I too will not be able to join in......once again those female impersonators have reeled me into lighting another one of their fund raisers this week and next. I'll miss the banter, but to quote a line from "The King and I", ".......it's for the children"..... I'm referring to the Christmas fund raiser by Peacox Productions for The Maine Home for Little Wanderers, also called Maine Childrens Home.
I'm glad this site has been set up for us listeners....just wanted the powers that be to know of my appreciation. I hope a lot of comments are posted tonight, so I have something to follow as I listen to the re-broadcast tomorrow.
One question....has anyone heard from Brit?

Well there are a lot of us with other plans this weekend. I have class all day in Seattle at University of Washington, then I am heading over to dand's bookstore for their holiday party!
Take good notes tonight, and I'll listen to the broadcast tomorrow.
Brit seems to be alive and well, but just quiet...

Oh my, I can't stand the responsibility. Where are the other note-takers? Gather 'round, folks, we'll need a powerful team effort.

I am so impressed by what our little "group" does when we are not posting!! Raising money for children, teaching classes, holiday parties, taking inventory at soup kitchens (OK I made the last one up)... but really, life away from Prairie Chatter is important. I hope that we all enjoy serving others as much as we enjoy being served!!!

Hello all,
Lots of things going on over here in Buffalo - no transmssion lines upon arrival (all is well now), musician's flight delays, lost/missing luggage/instruments, 60 MPH winds... It's been an interesting few days so far.
Anyone know where to rent a left handed guitar and/or a button box accordion in the greater Buffalo NY area???
;-)
See you all later.

Hey, Thomas. It's live, it's the miracle of radio. I remember in '84 or '85 when we were living in Birmingham, AL, and the show came to town along with a truly humongous (for Birmingham) snowstorm. The town was shut down, anybody that made it to the show did so on foot, and the whole thing got rewritten to reflect the weather event. You're making memories, man. Don't enjoy it too much or everyone will want to be a radio engineer, and where would your job security be then? Can I learn to do your job when I grow up?

LOL... That's a famous show in the annals of PHC history. Emmylou Harris joined GK onstage about halfway through the show and started singing a duet with him, right off her bus, 6 hours late.
I do love this job. The worst part is dealing with the phone companies week after week. It's like pulling teeth to get an order in, and just as bad to get lines disconnected, and it doesn't ever get any better.
This show is SO at the mercy of the phone companies... All in all, I find Verizon on the east coast the absolute worst. Qwest in the midwest is the easiest to deal with, as is SBC (ATT) on the west coast. They actually have broadcast divisions that speak our language.
I will say that Cincinnati Bell last week was a dream. Smaller companies are much more apt to give good service.

As usual, I expect to be away from my computer during the show, listening on the kitchen radio. Last week I finally got the idea to print the timings so I'll have them near. And in that way this east coast boy can feel connected while you post, enjoy.

Good luck. We'll be at a hockey game and will have to catch the re-broadcast tomorrow morning instead of going to church. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Don't let anyone tell you Garrison Keillor does not have a corrupting influence on the world. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I've been to Buffalo in December once or twice. What with the "lake effect," I'm not surprised doing a show from there might be a bit dicey. You got in okay but will you be getting out?

We're trying not to think about getting out at the moment. Still trying to get everyone here. The hotel has great beds and big hot tubs in most rooms, so we'll be cozy at the very least should we get stranded here.

Thomas, I am really flattered that you took time out of your busy schedule to contact me privately in advance of the show and this posting is to make others aware of your kindness to me.
I really appreciate that you consider me worth informing - probably the only UK listener who listens live!!!

Got here about an hour ago. Then I read about a big bed, hot tub and room service, and, after working all day outside, and my back in really bad pain, and the fact that we have this lavender mineral bath powder which says "bathe away aches and pains", well, you know......
I just woke up. Hi, guys! I'm looking for room service. Hi, Brit!

Hi! JSP!
There are some people one warms to and there are others that leave one cold!
I see that I lost all my Karma points and end up with just one!
Proves that karma is krap.
