"Roy's Rent-A-Dog" - we really should put our Bernese Mountain Dog to the task of guest control! I tuned in late so I am about 20 minutes behind the show, but will still change over to TCM at 5pm, as usual. Catch the remainder tomorrow or maybe listen to the whole thing over again, such great music. Do you find it harder to get motivated to do stuff these days? Sometimes it is just so nice to sit and relax and do nothing... which means watching something or listening to something or reading stuff on the internet. I did have a reality jolt today when a stranger knocked on the front door in the rain and asked if I was interestes in renting out my old place... across the street.. I had to tell him "not yet" since I have yet to clear it out! Most definitely! We've had this house for 25 years and I'm trying to get everything cleared out and organized before we move. It's taking forever. I'm beginning to enjoy the lack of a schedule and Things I have To do. I still miss seeing patients, but I suppose not enough to go back to the rat race of getting to the office at a certain time, while still managing the homefront. And our kids are all out and on their own - don't know how I managed it all years ago when they were little.

"Do Lord" (or "Beulah Land") was a popular camp sing-along when I went to summer camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We sang that last line as "Way beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains."

Kids set a schedule for parents these days more than ever I think. My daughter with 4 and her sweet hubby practically build their schedules around the kids needs... school, Doctors, activities, etc.

The kids have so many scheduled activities these days and until the oldest gets a drivers license, mom and dad are chauffeurs. We did have the advantage of a nanny ("Nanny Annie") for the 10 years we both worked crazy hours at the hospital.

Before Presidents Day, we celebrated each birthday separately - Lincoln on Feb 12 and Washington on Feb 20 IIRC. And Lincoln's Birthday was an official state holiday the last time I was in Illinois, which has been a while.

Now there are so many folks that do not get any time off to commemorate "President's Day" and just as well given the low honor bestowed on President these days. I cannot recall when the last President was that everyone genuinely thought highly of when they left office.

Jimmy Carter may not have been highly regarded when he left office, but he is more appreciated now - "the last of a breed."
You enjoy the rest of your weekend DW!

This is one of my favorite shows. I didn't listen today, but I have a lot of it memorized. I will listen later. I had to double-log-in to post to this thread. Odd.

As soon as I saw "Cajun favorite BeauSoleil" I remembered the story of you dancing all night, slb2! Was that on the Alaska cruise?

As soon as I saw "Cajun favorite BeauSoleil" I remembered the story of you dancing all night, slb2! Was that on the Alaska cruise? Definitely dancing into the night, past midnight, every night of the week-long cruise. Who loses 5 pounds on a cruise? ME! Dancing is serious.
