Which "You know who" book is he talking about?
How quickly we forget, except 21 years is not all that quick.

He said something about Ronald Reagan right after that, maybe mentioned Nancy. Did Nancy Reagan write a book?
Hollywood is so 20-teens now. The Oscars are on TV tomorrow night and being broadcast from the train station. And nobody has even heard of most of the nominees, let alone watched the movies.

I wouldn't know about that book. Hillary was still in DC with Billy Jeff, and GK is a Democrat, so I don't know what he'd have found objectionable. Did Nancy R do a memoir? But Ron was still alive. So I don't know who.

Ketchup!!
We needed this ketchup! Now we know what has been missing from our lives lately.

I took Economics in grad school - for the MBA.
I was amazed that I had already gone through 11 years of higher education and had never taken economics. There is a lot of good stuff - important stuff - to learn in economics classes.

So how has this week gone for everyone?

So how has this week gone for everyone? I quit my job so I am sleeping late, reading novels, and doing some cleaning up and organizing around the house. We are having some much-needed remodeling and repairs done, which is good. But it will lead to lots more additional organizing and clearing out, once the work is finished, because then I have to get all the junk out of the storeroom where it was crammed for the renovations. And probably sift out a few valuables to save while I am getting rid of the garbage. I will get a new job after a few weeks or months.

I checked the Wicki, which had a big, long list of Titles but nothing stood out for 1999. Except maybe Esther Williams and Gloria Stuart.

One of my high school boyfriends was determined to be a poet, and even when assigned a prose essay, he wrote in poettry. He got an F for that one.
Now he earns his living writing prose - he is a travel writer. I guess he is doing OK as he recently bought a large farm on one of the San Juan Islands, easily a 7- or 8-figure expenditure.
Prose must pay better than poetry.

So how has this week gone for everyone? Pretty non-descript, dw. PT twice, and a f/u with the surgeon on Friday. "Continue PT and I'll see you in 8 weeks." So that pretty much takes care of a trip to Berea, KY the first weekend of June for a little Traditional Dulcimore festival. But, I want to rehab to my best level possible, so there we are. There are more things coming up in Summer and Fall.

I've been delivering food to the homeless, and trying to stay up on changes happening in our area. We seem to have more food than we have people to come and get it.. which may be explained by our delivery being 7-9 am! I have been working on a garden with my lady friend and we are hoping for some produce in a few months. My daughter is headed back to South Korea for another round of teaching kindergarteners English.. which was to be expected as she has a South Korean boyfriend now! She leaves next Saturday!

Sounds like a nice supper. Have you seen, or heard, that the Florida Folk Festival is "virtual" this year?

I don't understand about missing the dulcimer festival, Jay. Can't you do a PT "Home Exercise Program" for one week while you are on the road? You could probably even do a remote PT telehealth visit, or even schedule a visit with a local PT in KY.
The orthopedist doesn't have to know you went on a trip, and probably doesn't care so long as you continue to recover. When I did an orthopedics elective with the ortho who was the official Denver Nuggets ortho, he said the hard part was that the doc has to fix them even while they continue their training. Professional athletes and ballerinas are incorrigible.
But if you are looking for Fall activities, don't forget that MerleFest is happening Sept 23 - 26, having been postponed from April of 2020. The September date is one-time only - in 2022 MerleFest will return to its usual schedule of the last weekend in April. The organizers must have had the foresight to realize April 2021 wouldn't be quite "open" enough for a gathering that exceeds 70,000.

This Cuban music reminds me, Raoul Castro has resigned and another fellow is stepping up to be the head of things. It will be the first time in 59-60 years that a Castro hasn't been in charge.

Don't most of the homeless shelters make the guests leave early? In our area, they have to leave by 0800, after breakfast, and they aren't allowed to check back in until supper time. But - do you take food the their location (shelter, camp site, whatever) or do they have to come pick up the food at a central site? And if you have too much food, what do you do with it? At restaurants and grocery stores, when they have excess food they usually donate it to ----> homeless shelters. Or food banks, though that works best for food that is still in cans or boxes, not yet prepared for serving.

There is the Sizemore Reunion the end of July, and usually a trip on up to Illinois from there. Things will start happening in September, for sure. Then the Nat'l Storytelling in October, a favorite dulcimer retreat at Stephen Foster park in November. Everybody is ready to start socializing again.

Or food banks, though that works best for food that is still in cans or boxes, not yet prepared for serving. Thanks for asking.... The main shelter in Tallahassee has transitioned to a 24 hour facility.. but they only serve meals at 10:30 am and 6:00 pm. We go outside the door at 7:15 to provide pastry, bread, snacks, sometimes sausage biscuits and then anything else we may get such as muscle milk. Those who do have employment but cannot yet find housing do not get breakfast nor coffee... so our snacks can help. Some folks leave to go out for the day to try and take care of things as best as they can, go to the public library, etc.. so they also like food. We also deliver to an apartment complex where people live 24/7 and a local hotel that is being used to house homeless who have not yet been vaccinated or have not yet been processed for shelter care. We also take food to a food pantry that serves the community and to a small group of people who live in public housing. I carry some with me for "street people". I have found in the past year that there is not a food shortage, but a food distribution problem in our community.

I thought the new guy was still a Castro supporter who will conitnue the same traditions? Oh, for sure. Just the idea that the Castro era is over. The same as when any long-time Revolutiuonary Leader passes on. Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Lenin, Stalin, Tito. They all leave their mark.
