Dec 1998 I had an 8 year old daughter and a 3 year old daughter... living in a big house in the fancy part of Tallahassee! Times have sure changed!

It is so great that he has access to these old shows. I wonder where they are stored? There are several other places that made it to the top of the desirable places to live now. Schools are still top notch, but homes are aging and the traffic just gets worse all the time!

It is so great that he has access to these old shows. I wonder where they are stored? Well, I know where a bunch are stored! On a bunch of cassettes, in a bunch of boxes, in a couple of different closets in Sanford, FL.

I'm listening. I need a way back machine to get to 1998. Things were easier then.

This is an example of how some people can persevere through hardships... amazing:
In November 2002, Watts suffered a subdural hematoma and underwent emergency surgery. In 2004, he also had surgery for a ruptured disc which was affecting the use of his left hand. He continued performing regularly after recovering from the surgeries.
In 2004 Watts joined the faculty at Indiana University, where he holds the Jack I. and Dora B. Hamlin Endowed Chair in Music.
In 2019, he underwent surgery for a nerve injury to his left hand resulting in the cancellation of several performances. He has reworked the Ravel Concerto for Left Hand to perform with his right hand and will be performing the work with the Detroit and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
No idea how he is now, but he would be 74 years old.

I've seen that Ravel Concerto performed, a long time ago. It was quite a deal.

I saw him many years ago at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. Yeah, it's been a long time since I've been to a quality, classical performance. Though once the bug is done there's a lot of potential here in this greater Orlando Metropolitan Area.

Hi Y'all!
I just got up from my nap. I think in 1998 we were still living in West By God Virginia.

Hi Jane! Good to see you here today!
Maybe it would be cool to have a little slider on the calendar just like we have on the show - dial right back to the minute you want!

Hey Jay, we have been to some classical great performances just last January in Elko! Though that seems a very long time ago now.
But I think nothing will ever beat 1. Rosa and Ted Hicks singing "Barbry Allen" a capella in Jonesborough, or 2. Arlo Guthrie reminding GK that "That there is your land, "This land is my land!!"

We've been witness to some pretty memorable moments. Did you see my little blurb in the Daily Report about Maria Muldaur's streaming performance tomorrow (for you) afternoon?

On the Left Coast I am sure that LA and San Diego are warm and sunny because that is the law.
But here in Wash-Your Hands-Ington, it is cold, dark, dreary and raining. I was going to go get Dream Dinners today but took one look at the outdoors and decided "Never Mind", I'll ask Gen to get them on Monday or something.
Also, somehow I injured my rotator cuff and couldn't sleep last night. Every hour I woke up in pain if I tried to roll over or something. I don't recall any injury, or even any unusual activity, but I guess that happens when we get old. I didn't feel like driving to Seattle.

Yes, I saw the notice about Maria's "Christmas at the Oasis" and I have the tab brought up right next to this one so I don't forget. That also was a memorable performance.
Also Del McCoury's 80th birthday here on the show, then the next day at MerleFest.
