Since we sail tomorrow I think this belongs in current events. I will try to post our cruise adventures from the ship. To start, here is the provisional daily activity schedule available in PDF format from the website: prairiehome.org/features/cruise/2016-alaska-activities/As always, it will be a challenge to decide which of the many activities to choose. Note there will be a performance of "The True Story of My Retirement: The Musical!" by GK. Choir practice most mornings at 8 or 9. Chris Thile will be on board, though it looks like as a member of the band, not the host.

We're in Anchorage and after lunch I should have a little time to post. It's a great cruise of course. Never a spare minute.

I became rather pre-occupied with nap-taking and shows and touring and choir practice and the DiG's and all, plus I nearly broke my ankle, but it was just a really bad sprain that immobilized me for the last few days of the trip, but that was OK because I had already been to Sitka and Victoria anyway, and the ship staff will deliver room service meals and lots of ice packs 24/7. And during my time in Sick Bay I found out all about how to be a ship doctor for cruise lines! Fortunately I do have detailed notes about GK's "Retirement" which I will try to write about on the plane trip tomorrow and Thursday (I am going to NC for a doctor appt, and don't worry I already ordered the wheel chair service).
Now this was not part of that retirement show (it was Fred, Sue and Tim doing Q&A), but Fred Newman told us that the "retirement" was just to get free from the show, the significant weekly requirements since GK is actually busier than ever since his retirement. One of the things he is busier with is planning next year's cruise, which will be to Norway and Scotland, June 10 - 24 to catch that festival in Norway on the longest night of the year. It will be much like the 2007 Norway cruise - which is universally everyone's favorite and we think he will even get Kunstbandet back again - but with Edinborough and Inverness added on, plus it will be 14 days instead of 10 days.
