This isn't a quiz. I see lots of oddball things on the 'net and in my inbox. This is a list (with pictures ) of some foreign taste treats deemed yucky by Viralnova. The names of some aren't translated but the picture label pretty much tells the story. (Maybe Mike could tanslate some of the Japanese.) Interestingly, what they thought was the yuckiest wasn't the yuckiest to me. So I'm asking which of these sound kind of appealing to you and which least likely ever to cross your lips. www.viralnova.com/crazy-food-now/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=aweber 1. Appealing to even Very appealing 2. Eww to Gag/Never in this World

Who THINKS of these things? I mean, I develop and create new recipes a lot but I have NEVER thought of these kinds of foods! Bleagh!
I don't like Doritos of any kind and I don't drink pop anymore, so that knocks out several right there.
SQUID INK BLACK BURGER? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. HORSE MEAT ICE CREAM? NEVER IN ALL MY LIFE OR THE NEXT ONE.
The dry pork/seaweed donut sounds pretty gross and I think the texture of the pancake drink would make me gag.
I MIGHT try the lemon pepper Tang, because I've had coffee drinks that were espresso, chocolate, and red pepper, and that was good. And I'd give the shrimp sandwich a try because I love shrimp but I know it would be disappointing.

They all sound awful to me, and I'll try almost anything that isn't made with something that used to have eyes.
My mother used to eat peanut butter, cucumber and mayo sandwiches. Quite good really. My uncles used to eat onions like apples (they grew up so poor, they probably didn't have apples). Henry loves the bacon cronut from the local bakery. Ick. I like peanut butter on radishes.
When I taught at the school with all the Hispanic kids, they ate these really hot cheetos, and their hands were always all reddish-orange. They were incredibly hot.

The squid topped the disgusting list for me, too. I mean, just look at it!
I like Jane's prohibition against anything with eyes as it is very clear, although I do eat some fish and shellfish on the grounds that their nervous systems really aren't sensitive. Paul McCartney, however, would go with Jane.
I might try the coffee jelly frap, the green tea Oreos, the lemon and pepper Tang, the avocado Cheetos, and yes, the shrimp burger. Mostly I'd wonder if any of the flavors would be actually distinguishable. You have to work hard on avocado to give it much flavor (they are supremely good for us, though), so how could it flavor a chip? I don't eat any chips or Doritos either, but the experiment would be worth the fat/salt/chemicals just once. Wouldn't the cookie part of the Oreos overpower green tea? still, they're pretty, and again, it would be an experiment.

None of the items appeal to me, as I am not at all an adventurous eater.
I don't eat seafood and I don't drink coffee, so that knocks off a number of items.
I will eat some kinds of chips, say with a sandwich at lunchtime, but only "regular" ones: potato chips or the original Cheetos that are orange and crunchy.
gk, if you like the looks of the green tea Oreos, I think at Christmas time you can get ones that look like that. The green filling is peppermint flavored.

I did recently go to this great Italian restaurant in the area. The chef learned to cook from her Italian mil, and she goes to Italy two or three times a year for refresher courses. The dessert I had was a very rich chocolate affair, almost like a cross between fudge and mousse, rolled in cherry pop rocks and dusted with cayenne pepper. It was out of this world. (They followed this up with a shot glass filled with a very rich chocolate liquid mixed with vodka.....)

After another review, I think the only ones I'd like to try are the Filet O'Shrimp and the Squid Ink Black Burger. The others just look and sound too bad. When My Dahhlink and eldest son returned from Japan, they brought plastic bags of dried, salted squid home with them. They loved it and ate it like candy. It was a snack food and packaged like single-serving potato chips. Nasty, stringy, rubbery, stinky, old-fishy stuff, if you asked me. But I'd still like to try the Squid Ink Black Burger.

When we lived in Hawaii, a predominantly Asian environment, I ate some of those unusual snack foods. But I lost my taste for them after we moved awy.
