4th of July weekend in Nagano prefecture Summer is here and the butterflies are enjoying the flowers The fish are swimming And, Emi is on the go! We visit a castile site in the town of Matsushiro. The mote and stone walls are there but the actual castle is gone. Then we visited a wasabi farm (Japanese horse radish) in the Azumino area. From above all you see is the sun shades From below you see the wasabi plants that are grown in running water. The root of the plant is ground to make the wasabi paste. The next day we went to Kurobe Dam That picture was taken from an observation point much higher above And here we are in the middle of the dam Next we ascended via cable cars and ropeways to Mt. Tateyama so that we could enjoy the scenery of the Tatayama mountain range We pause by a small pond for a rest Then it’s time to return to Kurobe dam It was a great adventure and a great 4th of July weekend The End

Great pictures and story, Mike! Happy Birthday and best wishes to Emi as well! I believe I will only see Japan through your camera lens, and hear the stories through your voice. Which sounds pretty Great, to me!

It must be quite an elevation for there still to be snow on the ground on the mountains at this time of year. Your travelogues are always interesting.
