Not only this month but last month too!
How is everyone doing? Is anyone else superstitious about Friday the 13th?
We're doing fine out here in the Northwest corner of the country. Sunny and "not cold" but not warm either.
I will not be walking under any ladders however, and I will avoid all broken mirrors. Black cats - I dunno, I like cats.

Don't EVER walk under ladders. No matter the date.
Don't EVER seek out broken mirrors.
However, thirty-two years ago today, on a Sunday, I gave birth to my son. It will always make me smile. I had a wonderful day today. I am immune to the 13th bad karma stuff because of this. (I think.)
And as my Dahhlink says, if you THINK you are happy, you are.

Well that is interesting. March 13th 1975, a Thursday, I was at Sacred Heart Hospital doing my proscribed part in coaxing my son from my wife's cozy little womb. Karen on the other hand, after about 15 hours of labor, was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the Lamaze method and was alternating between tears and screaming obscenely at me to "Shut up you don't know how it feels!" The Nurse was impressed with my calm demeanor, not knowing that such verbal abuse was not all that unlike our common dialogue at weekend barbecues— The noticeable difference being that I wasn't arguing with her.
By midnight Zac had won his first debate with his Mother by ignoring her irrational behavior. No small feat for the unborn, and a tactic he continues to this day. An unfortunate Nurse was standing too close to her bed at this point and Karen grabbed her by both breasts, and demanded something in a garbled whimper. The Nurse looked over at me, confused and slightly bruised I'm sure.
"F**ck Nature gimme the Caudal." I translated.
Zac was born a little after 3:00am 10lbs 3oz if I remember accurately— 20 hours in labor. I was humbled by the experience and have been careful not to underestimate or marginalize any woman since.
To answer your question K: I enjoy tempting superstition at every opportunity. You've probably noticed that I am consciously tactless about "Organized Superstition".

Well, we've made it through unscathed. I share a birthday on a 13th with Zac and BB's son, so I have to regard the number as beneficent. Oddly, since I'm basically sure that the worst really will happen , I don't think I'm superstitious about much. Of course you wouldn't walk under a ladder if you could avoid it. Stuff happens. But I still don't step on cracks. Roges, I love the birth story.

I made it through unscathed too - what a relief.
Last month I worked on Saturday the 14th (Valentine's Day), and it took a couple of patients reminding me "Happy Valentine's Day" that it soaked in that I had been so absorbed with Friday the 13th and escaping damage that I had forgotten about Valentine's Day.
There is an Olive Garden Restaurant across the parking lot from the clinic where I worked, so t the end of the day, I ordered take-out Italian dinner to take home with me as a Valentine's Day treat for me and DH.
