I have been looking around and there has to be some place where you can go to download the PHC shows. I don't have time to listen to them on my computer, only my iPod. I already got the Wobegon news but that isn't enough to satisfy me as it's only 18 minutes usually. I am aware that I can use realplayer and burn the shows and then re-encode them with mp3 but that takes time. Anyone know of a good solution?

Greetings natenkiki!
I'm sorry I don't have a complete answer, but perhaps I can head you in the right direction. During the show, Garrison suggests that people visit the show's website where you can "listen to old shows" as well as buying APHC related products, etc. I'm not sure if being able to listen necessarily means being able to download, but I think it's your best bet. The Google box at the bottom of this screen is where I'd go to try to find A Prairie Home Companion.
I hope you'll check out the other topics and see if you'd like to join the conversation on some of them.

Thomas might know. Actually, I'm fairly certain Thomas would know. What doesn't Thomas know?
Edited to clarify: Thomas Scheuzger is a member here. He works for A Prairie Home Companion. He generally posts a rundown of the show on the show thread and pops in from time to time to regale us with his vast knowledge of song lyrics.

The only way I can figure out on how to do it is a somewhat slow process but I will post it in case anyone else wants to do this.
I read that since the show is subject to many copyrights that they would have to get permission from each individual artist to post the show online for download and that is why they only offer News from Lake Wobegon as a podcast since it is just a monologue. Here is how to download the shows and put them on your iPod or other portable music device:
1. Get the newest version of RealPlayer 2. Download the streaming shows from their website 3. While each show downloads there is a option to "record" the show on RealPlayer, this will download the audio file into a ".ivr" format. 4. With that format you just burn it to a audio cd using RealPlayer (cd-rw work great since only about 1 show fits on the entire cd) 5. Then use your favorite media player and rip the cd into a .mp3 format. 6. Then you can transfer them to your iPod or other music player, or you can just archive them.
Note: If you have the pro version of RealPlayer you can just convert the .ivr files directly into a mp3 cd when you burn them.
I hope this helps out some people, it is a pain but now I can listen to them wherever I am.

Wow 2 people posted while I was posting I found this forum off of Yahoo Groups. I was hoping that the Yahoo Group might have some files uploaded but I joined this forum instead EDIT: Anyone like Phil Hendrie?

We actually were the Yahoo group, but this format served our purposes much better. Originally we all posted to The Chatterbox Cafe on the APHC website, but that forum was discontinued, much to our chagrin.
I hope you will consider hanging around and joining in our discussions. A group of us can usually be found posting during the broadcast of the show.

I know that I should know this but when does it broadcast? What days? Is there a station list that I can look through to see if I can receive it?

That's very true. Particularly 18 year olds!
I'd never heard of Phil Hendrie before, but then, I live in the UK, but I will check him out.

Welcome to prairieChatter, natenkiki! It's great to have some new members joining us. And thanks for posting the directions for the downloading, even though it's laborious.
I've missed several shows this summer, and the download is better for listening on the go. I can catch up on what I missed. I'll hopefully see y'all on the show this Saturday, if I'm home in time.

Welcome natenkiki. I'm glad to see that my LifeRaft at yahoo.groups is still worth sailing. (fyi, I set up the yahoo.groups site, but we shifted to this one once Trusty erected it) --------------- and DocK, will you still be attending the season opener on September 15th? If so, I'll start working on Ace to see if he'll attend with me. Street Dance, at the least! ---------------------------------- Brit said: but then, I live in the UK, but I will check him out. What's that stand for? Un Known?
