Please don't consider my advice as "instructions" Doc! As with everything else, imbibe exactly as you want to! If that means with a lump of ice, or a dash of soda, or whatever, so be it. But if any of you are ever in Scotland and order "The Macallan" on ice, you will get a very frosty look from the bartender and a pitying glance from the other customers! There are a lot of myths about how to drink Scotch so allow Howard the enjoyment of "the cratur" in whatever way he wants. It's always best to use a glass though. Straight from the neck of the bottle is considered to be in bad taste. Personally, when I have "The Macallan", I take a measure of it and half that measure of bottled water - unless I am in Scotland where the water is so pure, we used to use it to top up our car batteries - when I take it straight from the faucet. In fact, some of the Victorian and Edwardian bars in Scotland have a very elegant, but small, water faucet precisely for that purpose fitted into the bar-top - you choose how much water to put in the stuff yourself. During the time the whisky is "in bond" a great percentage evaporates. This is known as "the angel's share". Ah! Those were the days...

I'm sure doctork is putting the finishing touches on her trip report even as I write this.

I'm sure doctork is putting the finishing touches on her trip report even as I write this. At least I have good intentions of finishing up my trip report! Today I received a Fedex box full of mementos from the trip; I had sent them from my business meeting in Colorado in order to keep my luggage to a manageable load of one garment bag and one rollerboard carryon suitcase. I didn't take many pictures, as I forgot to pack my camera (yes I know, that was very stupid of me), so it was just a couple disposable cameras. However, I did get those developed onto a CD, and will eventually post a photo or two. So hang in there, I will post more...
