See my Reply #12 over on the "The Big Fun and Some" thread.

I decided to save you the trouble.
I posted reply #11 over there, and four minutes later it posted again as #12.
A few minutes ago, I added the following to #12:
——These double posts are distressing. On the former Chatterbox you got a double post if you posted, went back, and clicked post again. Here, I get a double post if I go back after posting, even if I don't click the post button. Apparently the rule here is, "After posting a reply, never go back. Switch over to somewhere else, and return to the thread later, if you want to."

Joe,
I would swear I saw a delete button somewhere, but I can't remember where.

DUH! It is at the top right side of each of my posts. I am assuming that each poster can see it only on his or her own posts, as it would be bad form to go around deleting others' postings willy-nilly.

I honestly can't figure out what's happening to you - must be an attack of dopey. Did it happen when you went back to "Modify" a post? Just want happened when "it posted again"?

No, the problem seems only to occur when I hit the Back button in the ruler at the top of my browser window. That brings up the reply screen with my text, and it seems to post the reply a second time even though I don't hit the Post button, but just go to another thread, or Home, or what have you.

I use the "back" or "backspace" button that is next to the + key on my keyboard to go back one screen when I'm surfing; most of the time it works, but on some pages it doesn't. Not a problem with this site, though.
But you mean the "back" button in your screen, right? Now, I'm stumped. If you're using IE, you may have to report this to Microsoft. It may be a setting in your Control Panels. I honestly don't know.
The only thing I can suggest is there are lots of smart kids who would LOVE to look at your computer & fix it. Maybe contact someone at MIT (They would probably solve it quicker and better (not to mention cheaper) than Microsoft.) They deal with all sorts of challenges every day, and they may have had a problem such as yours hit their desk.
Good luck. I know it's an irritation you don't need. Please let us know what happens.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this, Trusty. I just exalted you (and lost the reply I had written and was about ready to post).
Anyway, I raised the problem because I thought it might be something in the website, which would affect everybody. Since that is not the case, I think I won't bother to bring in the techies on it. I'll try to train myself not to hit "Back" immediately after posting, and if I mess up some time and get a double post, I'll just delete the second one.
So all you readers don't have to ask yourselves what was so terrible that I had to delete it — it was just a double post (at least if it comes soon after a post from me that is still there).

Less drastically, there is the one in the area above the text of your post, with a blue background, to the right of "Modify." Of course, you only get the "modify" and "delete" options on replies that you have posted, whereas you can "quote" anybody's posts.
