Well amazing the things that you learn when reading the online news. Who could have imagined that our Saturday night host was suffering the pains of a "stalker". Being sent poetry is something that he encourages but adding a petrified alligator's foot and dead beetles was a bit too much. I am glad things have been resolved but wonder if I should look forward to the book? If you want to read all about it go here: www6.comcast.net/entertainment/articles/2008/01/15/People.Garrison.Keillor/If I missed this when it first came out, please forgive me starting a new thread but I did not see anything...

I think we did talk about it, DW, but heaven knows how far back and under what thread. This coming back into the news is surprising. I'd have thought it was buried in the distant past, but I guess anything legal has its own timetable, so the order had to be officially argued again or dropped.
It doesn't sound as if this poor lady learned anything, does it?

Here's the local story. What I loved is in bold.
Restraining order dropped after woman agrees to stay away BY EMILY GURNON Pioneer Press Article Last Updated: 01/28/2008 11:52:28 PM CST
Humorist and radio celebrity Garrison Keillor has dropped his harassment order against a Georgia fan he accused of stalking him by making unwanted visits and sending him bizarre gifts.
Keillor and Andrea Campbell, of Hawkinsville, Ga., agreed to dismiss "all claims of this action," according to a document filed Monday in Ramsey County District Court.
The two sides were scheduled to meet in court Monday, but the hearing was canceled.
"The parties mutually agreed to dismiss based on Ms. Campbell's commitment not to have further contact with Mr. Keillor," said Keillor's attorney, Mary Stumo.
Keillor had filed Oct. 12 for a harassment restraining order against Campbell, 43, alleging that the fan of his "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show left him numerous voice mail and e-mail messages; left notes at his neighbor's home, apparently believing it was his home; and sent him "unusual and unwanted items," including a petrified alligator's foot, dead beetles and poems.
Many of the packages reeked of a strong perfume, according to Keillor's affidavit.
Campbell had appealed the restraining order; that appeal was to be the subject of the court hearing Monday.
"I guess he felt he couldn't defend what he had put in the affidavit, and I guess he realized it was all just a big misunderstanding," Campbell said.
She said she "held a space of love and forgiveness and just let the universe work its magic, and I think his conscience got to him."
She said she has no intention of contacting Keillor again. In the meantime, she is working on a book about how she believes she and Keillor influenced each other's creative processes, she said.

The question is whether Ms. Campbell is so out of it that she actually believes what she said about GK not being able to defend what was in the affidavit and his conscience getting to him. Basically, he drops the request for a court order only when she agrees to stop having contact with him, which is what he wanted. Hardly the action of a man who decided he had been wrong. It looks to me as if she is just looking for publicity — and, unfortunately, getting it.

You know, every time I hear the show lately, I feel influenced to send Garrison a freshly baked loaf of bread full of crunchy North Florida love bugs - fresh off the windshield - according to his instructions. I used to just write it off as MPR subliminal fund-raising, but now it know it's Garrison talking directly to ME. That's right.

I guess the World of Garrison must be pretty busy. He hasn't written to me lately. He hasn't even called! For pete's sake, even Al Franken called me last week. ;D Was I expecting something?

I've looked all over for the thread about GK's lawsuit with his neighbor about building a garage that would block his view (Maybe it was buried in another thread.), so I'll put this post here. Anyway, this link has the latest "development". (I personally don't understand why he needs 7 bedrooms, but to each his own.....) Modified to hopefully pass the login page (I was able to link to it at first, but now I get a login page - they must have put a cookie in my computer - will check it later.) www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/16238772.html
