Whew. A relief to hear, Mike. When the dust settles, I'd like to start a thread on language - what's inflammatory, what's acceptable. But it's true the whole thing got far afield from roges' point.

Threads change course like a winding river flows through summer or winter. I looked at the thread early on and only had a minute or two to listen to a short section at the very beginning of the interview. At that time, and now, I would start my reply by thanking Rog for the recording as at the beginning Shabana's voice happily reminded me of a friend, Dulari. I met her as a teen in London soon after she had arrived from India and I knew her for two years before I left the UK. Later, when time was available, I listened to the whole recording and, by that time, the thread had steered a little differently which is not surprising and I don't think it's a fault of any one individual.
Actually, whether Mike agrees with me or not, I was not offended by his post because whether I had been a POW, a relative of a POW, a friend of a POW, or a friend of a friend of a POW, or even didn't know anyone connected to the POWs at that time, I did not and still do not like any of the awful negative things JF said in North Viet Nam. Therefore, it's entirely possible, I might have said a similar word or any explicative whether masculine, feminine or neutral. According to Mike's posts I've read over several years, he loves and respects women in general and look at the great relationship he has with Emi!
The posters who criticized Mike for that particular post are coming from their own contexts and are true for them.

A couple of disagreements. 1.) The desire to decrease the power of the federal government is antithetical to any totalitarian movement, whether fascist or Marxist. 2.) There really are "activist judges" who have used their position in Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Jersey to grant privileges to homosexuals beyond what the people of our liberal society had chosen to grant. It is hardly an attack on homosexuals for people to want to maintain the status quo in other states, or even to restore the status quo ante in the three states mentioned.

Shabana Azmi is not a homosexual new jersey judge. I don't even think she would have reason to go to jersey unless she flew into Kennedy and took a taxi to DC.
Yankee Noodle
Shabana Azmi's not our clan Her Ro'bes Cause consternation If she and Fonda were to meet This thread would be a sensation
Yankee Fonda's rile us up Smart young Sufi's dandy Mix them up and what you get is a thread thats pretty randy
And moma always said that crazy is as crazy does.

The thing I would dread most, if I became mentally ill, would be your adopting a common sense attitude; that you could take it for granted that I was deluded. -- Wittgenstein
