That's right, it's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birthday!
Rock me Amadeus! 27 January 1756
Will you celebrate, or at least give a listen to his music?
Let's party!!!

Yes, I did celebrate We had champagne and crackers with cream cheese and crab meat. This was followed with a scrumptious chicken salad (tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, tender breast of chicken, and blue cheese dressing) and a bottle of Merlot. But! what would a birthday celebration be without the music? Oui? A recording from the 1950's, Dennis Brain and the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Herbert Von Karajan: Mozart's Horn Concertos numbers 1 through 4. It's a mono recording and it sounds heavenly. Mozart is one of the few composers that can bring me to such heights of emotion. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOZART! Mike

My list of Mozart "favourites" is pretty long. I recently got the double DVD of "The Marriage of Figaro" and it is simply outstanding.
Next on my list to get is "The Magic Flute", but I frequently have Mozart's Clarinet Concerto playing in the car which I think is probably his best Concerto.
I think I mentioned this before but Robert Burns was born 25 January three years later and died three years later that Mozart. If they had collaborated in the same way as Rogers & Hart or Gilbert & Sullivan, we'd be going to the Opera House and raving about "The Magic Bagpipe".

Mike — I have that recording with Dennis Brain. I don't listen as much to my records as I did before I had to take over kitchen duty, but I used to listen to that one a lot.
Brit — I'm not going to state a favorite concerto, but the Clarinet Concerto is certainly a great one.
"The Magic Bagpipe" — LOL

While it seems that some classical music purists frown on the movie, Amadeus, I thoroughly enjoy it. Perhaps I’ll rent the DVD and watch it tonight.
Tom Hulce was phenomenal (IMO) as Mozart. All that talent, and he’s a native of Michigan, too! How about that!
