Special Note—Summer Issue War Theme The Summer issue of Whistling Shade will have a war theme. For this issue we are looking mainly for memoirs written by those involved in a war (as soldiers or civilians), including the current war in Iraq, the Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea and World War II. War-related fiction and poetry will also be considered, however we are looking mainly for memoir. Posthumous submissions by relatives who were in wars are welcome. Second-hand accounts will be considered, but we prefer first-hand accounts by those actually involved. We would like to encourage our overseas readers to send us their war experiences (Kosovo, Somalia, etc.). Note that we are not looking for protest poetry, pro-war propaganda, or rhetorical pieces in general. Political arguments seldom change minds, but first hand accounts often broaden them. For more details: www.whistlingshade.com/submissions.htmlSubmit to: editor@whistlingshade.com or send mail to Whistling Shade, P.O. Box 7084, St. Paul, MN 55107 Deadline: June 1. Thinking in particular of roges here. Others?
