Somewhere on this board we had a brief discussion about "buying a used cruise ship." Post-Covid it is going to be a long time before cruising is like it used to be, so many lines are getting rid of many of their used ships. When they can't sell them, they are run aground, often in third world countries and then broken up for scrap. It seems undignified, but that is the way it is, I guess.
In the past, cruise ships were expected to cruise for 40 years or long, but many of these are in the 20 - 25 year-old range.

Undignified, indeed. We have a strict rule: Don't buy a boat that requires a crew to run, even though the living quarters will be a loud siren's song.
