Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Christmas Show
We are excited to announce that 3 years after Garrison's retirement from the show in 2016, the full "A Prairie Home Companion" cast is reuniting for a limited run of holiday shows this November and December! This special show will be playing only in New York City, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and San Francisco, so we wanted to let you know about it as early as possible so that you may make travel arrangements if you so wish.

"Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Christmas Show" will feature the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band, Royal Academy of Actors members Tim Russell and Sue Scott, sound effects whiz Fred Newman, guest vocalist Heather Masse of the Wailin’ Jennys, and show creator Garrison Keillor. Expect witty scripts, parody songs, holiday cheer, sweet duets, and perhaps even the latest News from Lake Wobegon.

As a special bonus for subscribing to this newsletter, we are providing a limited window of time for you to purchase advance presale tickets. The presale promotion code is POWDERMILK (all caps), and the presale window for tickets will begin on August 26th and run through September 9th. Tickets will then open up to the general public on September 10th.

It took me a while to remember "Now where did I see that Questions thread"? but here 'tis. So I don't know, do I feel like a trip to SF or NYC or maybe ATL? Haven't been to the Twin Cities in a long time. Hmmm.

I haven't yet gotten over not telling anyone (in my family here in WA, ATL, DCA), but you guys know)I went to the Rolling Stones concert. Am I really going to take a plane trip to a faraway city for APHC? Possibly. If I can find another reason to be in one of those cities around the same time - preferably a business expense reason.

No, I didn't buy tickets to any of the shows as I have been busy working on my travel plans for this month. I couldn't think so far ahead for Christmas time stuff.

PS - if you really want to go to the MSP show there probably are, or will be, secondary market tickets available on StubHub or similar resale websites. Whenever a show in a public venue sells out right away, there will be people whose plans change so they sell their tickets. And also scalpers who intentionally bought lots of tickets in hopes of making a profit by selling them later for a higher price. Now that the scalpers have competition there is not such a huge profit to be made. I bought all my concert tickets this summer on StubHub or one of the other similar sites.

I don't remember the site, but I saw APHC in Atlanta a few years ago and it was at the Fox Theater - a grand old theater, beautifully restored. It is historic for numerous reasons, not the least of which it was the site of the premiere of the film of Gone With the Wind back in 1939, the most historic year in all of film history.

So I checked and the Atlanta shows are at 2 pm and 7:30 pm - which did you decide to go to DW?
They are at a location that I do not know, but it's not the Fox.
My son lives in Atlanta and I went to the show with him last time, but given my location on the left coast, it would have to be the evening show because I hate the redeye.

NYC Town Hall has only a few seats in the back of the balcony, but you can take your pick in Atlanta, and the San Francisco show has a fairly good selection. Also, you can still buy tickets for the Minneapolis show at vividseats.com, but monitor the site because prices will change from the current lowest price of $94. You just don't know if they will go up or down. I would guess that the rabid fans bought right away, so any unsold tix near the show date will be lower in price because sellers want to unload before they lose all their money.

I'm not ready to commit yet by buying tix, but I would probably choose either ATL or SFO - SFO for a closer location and good Xmas shopping, or ATL because my son is there, and there is also some good shopping.

If you re-sell tickets to shows on Festivarians website, there is a rule that you do so only at the original price, nothing higher, could be lower; no scalping allowed. But that may be only for bluegrass festivals, as that is where you can (well, I can, since I am the one who likes those) get Telluride Bluegrass Festival tickets when they are already sold out.
