Our Brutus posted this on FB. bitecharge.com/play/oldperson?sess=r5#r535516729362005167 He turned out to be Mysterious, which I find a lot more interesting than mine. "Unique, exclusive, fascinating." To be honest, I don't think I've ever known a mysterious, unique, etc. old person. I was... Sweet You will be a warm, hearty, tender, and really sweet old person. It's true that you are very soft and sometimes too selfless, but the love that flows from within you can heal lives. You are an amazing friend and a phenomenal companion. You are rare to find, but one to cherish forever.

I am:
Ambitious You will be a smart, passionate, driven, and ambitious old person. You have amazing goals that you honestly believe you'll achieve. You tend to be the kind of person who accomplishes great things in life. Your friends and family are very proud of you.
Which is pretty much how I am now and have always been. Of course I am already pretty old, and I am not sure that old people are any different from younger people. I seem to remember learning in my psychiatry rotation that one's personality develops throughout childhood, into the twenties, but then is basically set by age 30. Some personality/temperament traits are set in utero, very apparent differences at birth.

When I get old, I'll become
Passionate, driven? We'll see.

The word I question in that category is "ambitious." In my family that wasn't a complimentary term. It connoted egotism and a drive to get ahead at all costs, reach your goal at the expense of others. I know it isn't always used in that context, but it's stuck with me. Let's think of another word for this category. edited to add: all the superlatives are pretty extreme, aren't they? I don't see how likely I am to change into a "phenomenal" companion when no one has ever hinted that I am such now. And "too selfless"? If it's the last piece of fudge, I might not grab it from someone, but I'd distract them while popping it into my mouth.

I also will be: Mysterious You will be a unique, exclusive, fascinating, and mysterious old person. Your uniqueness is visible in everything you do and don't do. Everyone recognizes how fascinating you are, and your mysteriousness is what adds the icing on the cake. Simply, you are you, and nothing is more true! They are afraid to say: You will be a cranky old broad who suffers fools poorly and snickers at your own terribly clever ironic snips.

Yes, loving this!
I'd been bothered by the word "exclusive," as I don't see Brutus as anything but inclusive of all kinds of people. Now that you add the suffering fools poorly, I can at least see it suiting you. ;o)

Yes, "Mysterious" also means: you will scare the crap out of anybody who hasn't known you for decades.

Yes, "Mysterious" also means: you will scare the crap out of anybody who hasn't known you for decades. It also means you wouldn't want to meet up with us in the fog! "Mysterious" here, also. Mom always said the Waters' live a long time, they just all wind up going crazy. "Mysterious" sounds better.

Ambitious wasn't a negative term when and where I grew up. It is admirable to want to do something that makes a difference in the world, but the path to such a life can be challenging. One must have a sense of ambition to make it through all the years of training, and then you find out that clinical practice is no picnic either.
I think these quizzes do have to use superlatives and extremes, otherwise they wouldn't be thought provoking and fun!

I won't even take the quiz since I know I will get the same result as Gail. Also: I am already an old person, and the only change of my current state is that I assume I will get even saggier and develop more wrinkles. Oh, and then there's the dementia. The other day, I lamented to Peter (9), "I hope I never get like my mother." And he sighed, shook his head and said philosophically, "We all do; we all do."
Since he tells me on a daily basis how smart he is (he's currently reading Stephen Hawking), I fear I must take his word for it.
Although I have to admit that the Hawking he is reading is "A Brief History of Time" adapted for younger readers....

You will be: Thoughtful You will be a thoughtful, warm, kind, and trustworthy old person. You like to take time and assess the implications of something before doing it. That makes you a highly efficient human being. Your warmth and kindness is refreshing and you can be trusted to always save the day. I think I will like getting old.

Thoughtful. I believe you are the first Thoughtful Old Person we know, or will know, Lirio.
I am so not surprised, although delighted.
