We don't get that many Trick-or-Treaters. My husband likes to give out little bags of candy, so I have an assortment of mini Kit Kats, M & M's, Twix, and Snickers, as well as individual bags of chocolate covered pretzels. I'll probably make up two dozen little treat bags and we'll give out maybe half of them. My husband and the 15-year-old will polish off the rest.

Fruit leather. Locally made all natural, not that I"ve ever had Trick r Treaters here at the lake, but left over chocolate would have my LDL back up to 140 and I've just got it Down to 109... without the Statin stuff

Good for you, roges! My mother used to give out dimes. That would be good for your cholesterol, too. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

We stopped turning on the lights for trick-or-treaters about 20 years ago when we first had 2 dogs. One was controllable but two were non-stop cacaphony. Besides, that was when no one would let their kids go door to door anymore. I guess some neighborhoods get scads of kids, but this one definitely doesn't. If we did have scads of kids and peaceable dogs, I'd hand out PURE JUNK. I'd be the house every kid knows is a must-hit, a legend among shameless purveyors of sugar/fat/salt, preferably all mixed together. Your little bags sound excellent, lirio, though the pretense of nutrition in Kit-Kat and Twix might be a little tame. (In MN those are not taxed, because the ag lobby got them classified as food.) Still, you'd have been on my A- list back in the day. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I will be turning out the lights and leaving the house. We go to Elisabeth's house to watch their kids t and t. Every time I have bought candy to hand out, Bill tells me it is NOT ENOUGH, and he goes out and buys hundreds of bags, and then I eat it all because no one comes to the door. So now we just skip the whole thing. Elisabeth gives out full-sized candy bars. She lives in an affluent area, and bus loads of kids come in from Elsewhere, including very large and not-costumed young(ish) black men with pillow cases. Not that there's anything wrong with that.....

Until they got too big to go Trick or Treating, I was always the one who took the kids and my husband was always the one who stayed home and handed out the treats. Then, when the two oldest got to be too big to go, they would help him with some sort of spooky prank. This year he has a battery-operated pumpkin that moves and has a maniacal laugh. He intends to dress in a baggy sweatshirt pulled up over his head so that he appears to be headless while carrying his pumpkin "head" when he answers the door. Should be interesting.
My kids always liked going to the house with the big bowl of individual bags of chips and Fritos and corn curls and such. I never bought them for their lunches - I'd just put some chips from a big bag into a sandwich bag - so they thought these were really special. They also liked the houses where there would be non-food items tossed in with the candy - little plastic spider rings, plastic "bloody" fingers, stretchy hands, etc.
One year, when my husband was laid off from his job around Halloween, I thought we should cut back on the treats, and I bought little bags of Halloween pretzels from a warehouse store. I taped a very small lollypop to each bag. My husband was appalled. He told me that we were not yet so poor that we could not hand out little bags of treats, so I went back and got some more candy to go with the pretzels and lollypops. I think he was just worried that he was going to have nothing but pretzels and lollypops to snack on after Halloween.

I've regularly given out Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, "fun size" Snickers, and York Peppermint Patties. But since the doorbell is broken (and won't stay fixed), I have to stay within earshot, with the inner door open, so I can hear the t-o-t'ers arrive. Kind of a nuisance. Then last year nobody came at all, because the outside light wasn't on. (I honestly thought I had turned it on.) This year, I'm in luck. It's the fifth Monday of the month, and on fifth mondays members of the local ministerial association prepare and serve dinner at a homeless shelter in a nearby city. So I can do that and be out of the house from 4:00 to 7:00. That takes care of everybody but the teenagers. So all I have to do is go to a restaurant for dinner, and I've legitimately dodged the whole thing. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Good one, Joe!
We have no trick-or-treaters here on our dock, the locked community. The only year we did was when we lived two boats down from Stevie, and she was a kid. I wrote a Halloween poem about her years ago.
At the bank, we will be participating in the community T-O-T, I think it is from 4-6 p.m. Since we have had a RASH of bank robberies recently, some at our bank branches (take-over robberies with guns and the perps wearing George Jr Halloween masks, fer crying out loud!) we will have the signs up on the doors, "Remove Your Mask," and we will be standing outside on the front sidewalk with the goodies.
That reminds me. I think I have Jack-O-Lantern lights down in the V-berth I haven't even put up yet. I think I'll go get them

Nice to see you around roges. Whenever you show up it gets my creative juices flowing.
Generations of Fun
Jack o' lanterns on porches Toothy grins all a glow Children out in costume Won't be long 'til winter's snow
Dead leaves under foot Children go from door to door Trick or treat say the young ones Receiving popcorn balls and more
Parents stand back discreetly Protective of their pride of cubs Remembering the joy of Halloween Renewed forever and filled with love

I especially love "pride of cubs," Mike.
That pumpkin is incredible, Lirio! I'm thinking your husband should take his show down to Main St., somewhere that reaches more than a few neighborhood kids. He could stand on a busy corner and entertain the whole town!
That light show must take several weekends to put together - amazing.

I think we should stock up on treats, as our new neighborhood looks like the type that has lots of kids, though I haven't been here long enough to tell for sure. There is an elementary school 2 blocks away. All the houses seem to be starter-house kind of places - small, one story, 2 or 3 bedroom, 1 or 2 bathroom places with cars in the wide driveways and maybe a carport or garage.
A lot of the houses have Halloween decorations. If I get a chance, I'll put up a few myself.. Numerous businesses in Winslow will be having trick or treat events from 4 to 6, but I bet we will still have some coming to the house. Being this is Arizona, which does not observe Daylight Savings Time, it's getting dark by5 now. We'll see.
As for what treats - I'm a traditionalist, so I'll get little bags of candy. Whatever I can find at WalMart or Safeway.

Thanks Mike the feeling is mutual. Now for the adult version of what I'm giving out for Halloween I gave these babies out last year. Wouldn't fit in a TrT bag but there were some happy Wabbits out there as you can see ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/rogesgallery1/IMG_2071.jpg) This model I got at a discount TSA gift shop — Working handcuffs even. She gropes, she gawks she giggles ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/rogesgallery1/IMG_2045.jpg) And if you Don't like the treats you get the finger... from these guys ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/rogesgallery1/IMG_2042.jpg) Or worse ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/rogesgallery1/IMG_2097.jpg)

Buddy. Nah, I don't have it. I posted it in the old Chatterbox, and printed out a copy for Stevie and her parents. That was years ago, and three laptops and one big computer later. HOWEVER, Thom has the big computer off Madeline R in Arizona. I'll email him and see if it is on that computer. Stevie and her parents were dockmates of ours, on M dock before the big marina remodel, and her dad had just been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. They moved off their boat and into an apartment. We had dinner with them at their apartment and lost contact with them later. Funnily enough, I don't even have a WORD program on this computer, so everything I write is just "out there."

First our town rescheduled Halloween for last night. Then they cancelled door-to-door trick or treating (still areas with downed power lines and branches) and instead encouraged families to come to the parking lot at the town park and do "Trick or Trunk". I understand it was packed. We did not go to hand out our candy. Or perhaps I should say what is left of our candy. Ahem. Let's just say that my family is very happy that I purchased candy that they like.
