That is terribly sad news. Even though we hadn't heard from him here in some time, some of us corresponded with him intermittently and will miss him greatly.
Thank you for posting, ozski.

Brit! You are responsible for me being on Facebook! I just logged in to see your wonderful pictures of cruising the canals, not knowing that I was creating "A Wall."
God Speed, my friend.

There was always a hope that we'd hear from Brit again sometime. I'm sorry that the hope no longer exists.
My condolences to his family and all who mourn his passing.

[Brit will LOVE this question]
So, ozski, when you posted this here were you referring to "Tools" or "References?"

Oh, my, I never look at this thread. What a shame. I can't remember if Brit was older than Joe (we used to joke about who was the most aged of the aged elders), but he surely was under 70.
In 2005, when GK had a big New Year's Eve show, people came from all over, including Jaystar and several people who'd been on the cruise with her the previous summer. I had a brunch so they'd have a place to get together, and our small living room was overflowing with people. Slb2 came (and Tribbble for a very short time) and about a half hour into it, the phone rang. Jerry had to call out to me over the hubbub, "some guy says he's across the pond" and lo! it was Brit. He knew we'd get a kick out of a transatlantic call, and he loved being several hours ahead of us in his New Year's libations.

Very sad news indeed. When my little nephew Sammy was almost three, he was obsessed with St. Bernard dogs. We found a cute little backpack on Amazon.uk, but they wouldn't ship to the US. I sent an e-mail to George, and he took it upon himself to buy it and ship it---and he never let me reimburse him. All he asked was for a photo from Christmas day... Godspeed, sir. RIP.

It is always a bit more sobering to learn of the passing of a contemporary - classmate, friend, whomever. I'll feel it a bit more myself when I lose a patient who is my own age.
I have few regrets in my life, but one is that I did not get to London (suburbs really) to visit Brit, as it remains on my "bucket list" to do some family history research in England, and the old Crosby Hall, formerly of downtown London, has been moved and reconstructed in a locale that is not far from Maidenhead.
