Hey! It can't be over yet. I've got four more trips to Maidenhead to give away.
(Oh, Brit. Did I say they were on the same day?)

Wel, another show in the can, or on the disk or wherever they go. It's nice to get back on schedule. Everyone take care, don't let the strange weather make you loopy. See you all next week. 'Night, now.

Last night we had some fun on the Show Thread and some played around with the idea of watching the Doctor and her colleagues dancing around to the St Vitus Dance when she mentioned she had to learn all about it.
I didn't want to be a wet blanket at the time, but it is actually more serious than waltzing around.
Chorea sancti viti (Latin for "St. Vitus' dance") is an abnormal voluntary movement disorder.
Google either St Vitus Dance or Chorea.

From a guy that's had epilepsy since 19 years of age, I understand the problem. I could laugh about it or cry about it; I choose the former, even though it may be a bit politically incorrect. I joke, not at the condition, but at the humour built into our English language. :-)

Sorry, I pointed it out as politically incorrect, but probably should have remained mum. It's tough to know how to balance humor and what might mean real pain to someone, as we learned with the dwarfism issue.
Trusty, I don't recall your ever having told us about your epilepsy. Are you on some med or is it rare enough to be manageable? Thanks for telling us.

Not a big deal to me, really. Been taking meds for 40 years. The worst part is trying to keep everybody else calm after I've had a seizure (which is rare). It affects my hearing and speech for about 15 minutes, so I can't communicate to others not to panic because I'm OK.
We all cope with something. I mean, if we are here, there's GOTTA be something wrong, right? And it may be noticable to normal people. :-D

St Vitus Dance (Sydenham chorea) isn't a seizure disorder, though it is an involuntary movement disorder, associated with rheumatic fever. It occurs mainly in children, and usually resolves spontaneously - no seizure meds needed. We don't see it much in the US any more, thanks to aggressive treatment of strep throat.
That was a true story about learning the "dance." Yes really! The neurology professor came into the classroom and began to behave as if he had the disorder. Everybody in class paid attention, no one was sleeping. Then we all practiced outside at lunchtime.
He did the same thing a few weeks later demonstrating grand mal seizures. To this day, I'll bet every single one of us in the class would recognize St Vitus immediately, even though it is a rare diagnosis.
And you're right Trusty - we all got something, or even multiple somethings!

I apologise if I was being too critical.
It's just that I am hyper-sensitive to issues affecting people less enabled than myself. For far too many years they have been laughed at and treated as second-class citizens so if I offended anyone, please accept my apologies.
I had simply thought about the time the topic of dwarves came up and the way that one poster was affected by the topic.
