I wonder how big a stick do you use for toast on a stick?

Those family items of sentimental value are hard to get rid of. I have a pair of glass shelf cabinets and I think I will choose select items from parents' lives and ours to save - but no more than will fit in the cabinets.
My dad was a meticulous cataloger of photos he took going all the way back to his years at the USCG Academy and I will save those - about 12 of those albums.
The big task is the thousands of books because they need to be unpacked, organized for viewing for antiquarian book dealers, then sold. A question on the non-antique book and vinyl albums - sell them on eBay (a lot of trouble but considerable $$$) vs sell in bulk or give away.
And there is a ton of definite trash. I need to buy some additional trash cans, hide them in the garage workshop, fill them with trash and junk, then take them to the dump without Howard noticing. That will have to be a little at a time, but as long as it just looks like I am cleaning the garage, he will make himself scarce.

I guess we're seeing the benefits of a whole APHC show, not the radio version. Have you been to an outdoor live show David? They usually have a lot more leeway om the performance.

I wonder how big a stick do you use for toast on a stick? I have never tried that. Just marshmallows for S'mores. And I don't care for corn dogs either, not most foods on a stick.

I think dealing with selling items is a big challenge these days, sadly because of dishonest people. I think the more logical approach might be to find a group online that is local to you and has book dealers/record dealers... post a question there if anyone has a store front where you could get a decent price by taking boxes to them?

That's a good idea. I'll check on the possibilities as I know there are several such shops, in fact our good friend and dog-sitter Uncle Bruno, works at one.
I am hoping that one of the antiquarian book dealers will agree to take everything, with modest payment for the "regular books" in exchange for what to them is a bargain deal for the antiquarian books. Antiquarian book dealers who exhibit at the large regional and national shows are pretty reliable, their reputations easily checked, so long as I inform my self well enough in advance to know what and who I'm dealing with.
I've learned some techniques from an online friend/expert on how to sell old vinyl on eBay via auction, which is relatively easy using standard packaging bought in bulk.. Books of varying sizes are more troublesome when it comes to "Shipping and handling" than vinyl albums.
OTOH I've looked at a few of my "regular books" and some of them are valuable near-antiques (I'm old) that sell on eBay for $30 - $50 each. Maybe I'd DIY for some of those.
I'm planning on taking two small - medium size book cases with us back east. Rent a panel van or 10 foot U-Haul.

I wonder if you might save time and trouble by possible contracting with one of the PODS moving companies. They drop off the unit of your choice, you fill it, they pick it up and deliver it across the country when you say. Driving a U=Haul across the country is both challenging and gas guzzling plus the dropping off... might want to compare costs!

I don't think so, I like road trips, and since I am planning on keeping only the most sentimentally valuable items, I shall personally accompany them. We have to get across the country somehow and I am not putting Jerri the very large dog in the cargo section of the aircraft.
I've moved across country many times and there are too many snafus that occur even with "the best" companies. In fact, taking it personally with me driving the truck is not an iron-clad guarantee but it's as close as one can get.
