I don't keep in touch with very many old friends from the old days, as I have been too mobile, and we used to have only the USPS in the old snailmail days. But the connection wavelength bands are still, there as I recently discovered at my 50th college reunion. So now I have a crop on more "new old friends" which always happens at then high school and med school reunions too. Then there are the former co-worker friends because I have changed jobs even more frequently than residences.
The Harvard Happiness study that has been going on for nearly 90 years has show that those relationships are the cornerstone of happiness. Eric is my oldest friend and I value that. But I have always been so envious of my cousins who lived in the same place (Jacksonville) and had the same friends for many years! They always were so much more connected than I was - lucky. Just like you DW - you are blessed there in your town, doing just what you've been meant to be doing. A significant achievement, and I can tell you have more connections than you have counted up on your list.

All y'all have a good week. Friday the 14th is Bastille Day! Get out your tricolor to wave, if you have one.
