Leo Kottke was born in Athens, Georgia, but grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he began playing the trombone. Kottke learned theory and harmony from playing the trombone, but was introduced to his instrument of choice, the guitar, by his mom. When he was twelve she bought him a dime-store guitar to entertain him when he was sick with mono. Kottke is now a self-taught guitarist who is renowned as one of the most innovative acoustic guitarists of all time. He has released 25 albums and recorded with such artists as Rickie Lee Jones, Lyle Lovett, and John Gorka, although he usually performs solo. Kottke plays and writes music for the guitar and tours all over the U.S., Australia, and Europe. He was also installed in Guitar Player Magazine's Hall of Fame.

OCEAN GROVE EXUDES VICTORIAN CHARM, which is not surprising considering it was founded in 1869 as a Methodist summer camp meeting site created by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association.
At the center of Ocean Grove sits a wooden architectural marvel, the Great Auditorium. This theater, which houses exceptional acoustics, could originally seat 10,000 but now only allows for just over 6,000. A statue of the Reverend Ellwood H. Stokes, who helped found Ocean Grove, sits out front.
The massive auditorium was completed in 1894 and has remained virtually unchanged since its construction. It still features its original lighting system that was very modern for the times. Many worshippers began spending their summers in Ocean Grove as part of the religious retreat, now the longest active camp meeting site in the United States.
Over the decades, the Great Auditorium has welcomed preachers such as Booker T. Washington and Billy Graham. Along with speakers. The Great Auditorium also boasts one of the largest pipe organs in the world and is surrounded by more than 100 tents that are erected every summer for seasonal renters.

18-year old violinist Bella Hristova was born in Bulgaria and began playing violin when she was six. When she came to the United States in 1999, she started studying with Stephen Shipps at the Meadowmount School of Music in New York State and the University of Michigan School of Music. Her awards and recognitions are countless. In 1999, she won First Prize at the International Enesco Competition in Bucharest, Romania. One month later, she won the Grand Prize in the Michigan American String Teachers Competition. And the recognition continues: 2001 Grand Prize Winner of the International Kocian Competition in the Czech Republic, a performer on the NPR show From the Top with pianist Christopher O'Riley, and concertmaster of the Michigan Youth Orchestra at the University of Michigan.

tonight's broadcast is sponsored by a word about potato salad:
It is potato salad season, says the Minnesota Potato Growers, and nothing goes so well at picnics, open houses, or any other sort of festive summer event, as good old potato salad. Americans truly are potato people and June is a potato's time to shine. Dressed up in mayonnaise and mustard and eggs ...all of it good for you, and it's a 'salad' and that means it won't make you fat. Cook up a big pot of spuds today and make a salad and sit yourself down on the couch and eat it up. It's good, rib-stickin' eats that you can pronounce. And remember: you never get stressed out on potatoes.
JH & GK DUET: Summertime...means potato salad Fix a bowl for me Mayonnaise and eggs and then some mustard, And chopped celery. One chopped onion and of course paprika A tablespoon of chives..... Summertime and we're potato people..... Living our potato lives.

I'm here already! How did it get to be nearly 3 pm so soon? Oh - because I slept until noon.
It gets late early these days, especially with the 16 - 18 hour days in the PNW.

Welcome aboard Doc. I hope this sleeping late business is not a sign that you have gotten into a retired way of life!! My husband is a night owl. I prefer to keep a more regular "normal" schedule, but it's been a stressful time lately so I think I needed the sleep. I'll revert to normal later.

Oh, yeah. And they're slowly dropping off the scene. What's wild is the ones still playing and touring, like the Stones.

(from their August 2019 Seattle show, 3 or 4 months after Mick's open heart surgery!) ![](//storage.proboards.com/1989192/thumbnailer/mivJgLKAFrMgNbzScKXI.png) ![](//storage.proboards.com/1989192/thumbnailer/mivJgLKAFrMgNbzScKXI.png)

Said grandchild now has dual citizenship and is eligible for all EU privileges! So does the non-French US citizen. My cousin had his French passport less than a year after his wedding to a French woman, even though he speaks not a work of French.

I had to check the details about Mick Jaggers' performance post-TAVR.
He had his aortic valve replaced on April 4, 2019 (age 75) and the Stones resumed their post-poned "No Filter" tour on June 21. I saw them August 19, by which time he was 76, yet he ran up and down that stage and its auxilliary runways for 2 and 1/2 solid hours! No break, though he went backstage a few times to change costumes. The whole show was remarkable. They did look older, but did not behave one day over, say,30.
There is hope, though Mick is said to be extremely diligent about his work-outs, and he seems to be blessed with otherwise excellent health.

What about Richards? He's a bit older than Jagger, probably still dips into the goodies every now and then. They'll go till they don't anymore!
