Greetings from Moss Point, Mississippi... across the river from Pascagoula and around the bend from the Mississippi Sand Hill Crane National Wildlife Refuge. I'm listening to the show on central standard time, just like when I was a young man.

Hi y'all. I just tuned in so at the moment I am 5 minutes behind.
After I adjust, any time zone works for me. Except Afghanistan was always a little weird - it was the half-hour that got me. I could never remember if the difference was 11 & 1/2 or 12 & 1/2 hours different from the Pacific Time Zone.

My Mom had emergency surgery to place two pins into the head of her femur. So I made an unexpected trip to Texas for two weeks to be her home health care assistant so that my sister could go to work... unexpected benefit of being retired. I got to experience the Texas freeze, a rare snow fall, very little sleep, and got familiar with the home health care system in the Corpus Christi area. I don't like it, and was about to call Jay and get him to pull some strings and straighten out these folks in Texas!! Mom is doing great, and already putting weight on the leg and getting into and out of bed by herself.. just needs to be confident. She has gotten into more exercise than in a very long time, thanks to the physical and occupational therapy. Meanwhile I broke up my journey homeward for a good night of rest and then will mosey into Tallahassee tomorrow at a leisurely pace.

I guess you two will be able to say if his Thong Song is anatomically correct?

Looking over your post, I don't know that I'd of been able to give any of your local HomeCare agencies any kind of pointers or shake-up. Sounds like it's working the way it's supposed to.

I did not share the "issues". Let's just say that communication is fairly important and the system over there is severely broken.

Speaking of Olympics, I wonder if there will ever be any in Japan?

I am still here but I got distracted. I was over at Etsy looking at the Gee's Bend quilts which one can now purchase there. Otherwise it's a long way to Gee's Bend, Alabama, now called Boykin, AL.

I did not share the "issues". Let's just say that communication is fairly important and the system over there is severely broken. You're right, communication is very important, in every direction and between all parties. Especially in HomeCare, where HealthCare resources are geared toward involving and achieving co-operation with the patient, and learning. The emphasis is on working with the patient not working on the patient. Lots of teaching going on. I'm sure the weather brought on it's own set of challenges. It always did for us.

Speaking of Olympics, I wonder if there will ever be any in Japan? A big question right now. Japan is being very strict on the Covid rules, trying to keep a lid on it so the Olympics can proceed. I dunno - it still looks kinda chancy. I am wondering if my TCM movie cruise will happen in October. It was already postponed from 2020. There is a Fox Theater in Atlanta which was the scene for the premiere of "Gone With The Wind" in 1939. And I went to a Mother's Day APHC show there with my son a few years back. Didn't you go to the Christmas show there, DW?

Hey, doc. When did Gee's Bend transition to Boykin?

The quilts are as much works of art and wall hangings as quilts for daily use. They are quite special.

Hey, doc. When did Gee's Bend transition to Boykin? I'd guess that was recent, as checking the website today was the first I heard of the new name. My grand-daughter is in first grade and they had a presentation at school on the Gee's Bend Quilters. She had actually attended the Storytelling theater session with the quilters with me, but she was only 3 so she doesn't really remember.

Well, I'm sure hoping the Festival happens this Fall, I've paid for my tickets. And I have my ticket ordered for the Virtual Azalea Storytelling festival, next weekend. I'd hardly call it a Festival. There are going to be two sessions with Donald Davis in the afternoon and evening, and a few blurbs from the other tellers who were scheduled. But it will be that much. I certainly won't be up for much more than that.

I hope so too. We are sort of planning on it, except that who knows these days? I thought the Rodear version of Elko was quite good. I would think that the Azalea Festival would be good too - not as good as in-person, but still worthwhile.
I made my usual contribution to Storytelling last October, expect to do the same this year; they need it more than ever these days.

I paid for Rodear but didn't get to tune in, so I have that to look forward to in March, as well.

I didn't think much about it at all. I read it, but it didn't reach out and grab me. I should go back and look at it again. We've certainly been hanging out here as a group for quite a while.

This is what Doc wrote when this show first aired:
After a long day at the Dilkon Clinic, 80 miles from Flagstaff, I found the description for tomorrow's show in my inbox: "We Hope for Better Things; It Shall Rise from the Ashes." I am supposing that is a reference to Ash Wednesday, and then since it is a live show from Detroit's Fox Theater, of course there is a lot of soul music. Including one of my favorites, Jearlyn Steel and her sister Jevetta. And then the usuals, the Rah! Rah! Radio Actors and Guys All-Star Shoe Band.
It should be a great show. If I am a few minutes late, it is only because I am attending a storytelling event at the Museum of Northern Arizona, so I think I should get a late pass 'K? See ya on the radio!

I for one am just unwilling to accept that this was 11 years ago! Does is seem that time is going by quicker than ever? I don't care to answer that question for fear of sounding like a stereotypical Senior Flatulent. But those milestones just keep on happening. Fifty and sixty year milestones. How 'bout this one? My baby girl is going to be 40 this April! Hell, it just seems like yesterday when my Dad was asking my Mom "Is Jay really turning 40?". She assured him I was, indeed turning 40. She was there when I came on the scene, she could vouch for it.
