Gorgeous, BB. I'm trying really hard not to be envious. Will he come home from time to time? How long will this job take, do you think? And I hope you feel safe on the boat alone. This has made me realize I have no idea how you lock up at night or how easy it would be to break in. Not that I think a woman can't live alone, as I did for a long time. It was good having a dog that would bark at noises, not so good that she'd have wagged all over if an intruder actually got in. "Hi! Do you rub tummies? Can I jump up and lick your whole face?" The safety she provided rested solely on a burglar deciding to look for a dogless house. Hmmm, good questions, gk. We figure that during the summer months, he will fly home on occasional weekends. In the winter months, I will fly to Scottsdale. This job will go at least a year, probably longer. Dahhlink will set up a shop in the 30,000 sq ft {air-conditioned} warehouse, and build the ceiling on the floor. Then he will build a false floor under the ceiling to install it in the grand room. Although the ceiling is 3,000 sq ft and eliptical, it is flat not domed. He is selling his van here {not air-conditioned,} shipping his tools, flying down and buying a van {air-conditioned} there. One of the things that Dahhlink will be doing before he leaves, is installing internal locks on the boat. We simply don't lock the boat at night when we are both here. That will be necessary for me with his absence. ;D

BoatBabe, here is a consideration for those visits between AZ and WA. Allegiant Airlines flies to/from the Phoenix area and Bellingham (BLI), I think out of the Mesa, AZ airport. Since you can get one-way fares as low as $29, it may be worth the 85 mile drive to/from B'ham.
The Airporter shuttle runs from BLI to SEA (some runs will stop in downtown Seattle) for around $35 - $40. Or you can rent an AVIS car for around $60 + gas. All in, you'll still save over Alaska's $300 - $400+ "legacy" fares. If the flight schedule fits yours.
Definite thumbs up on the van with AC!! Definite thumbs up on shipping the tools also. TSA at SEA is one of the worst for stealing desirable checked baggage items (not as bad as Philly though).

Boy, I feel badly for your brother, doc. Fine woodworkers get really burned out doing framing. Framing is out of Dahhlink's current physical tolerance due to too many years beating up his body in this job. Which is why he is going clear to Arizona for a "real" job. My brother is in Florida where the real estate and construction industries are in the pits due to the economic collapse. He also blames it on the undocumented workers, but I dunno. I thought they did the migrant farm labor, landscaping and yes the framing, leaving the interior work to the local guys with the right skills. But construction is not something I know much about.

Hey! What happened to The Picture Attachment feature on the Reply?
I can't post a picture!
Now it says "Message Icon."
Did we get downgraded?
Did we awaken a Sleeping Moderator?
What's up?!?

Alrighty then.
The Message Icon is set to standard.
If I move it to "Thumbs Up" I still don't have a thumbs up.
And I can't post the cool picture.

So where is the picture BB?
I will need to do something about taking pictures - find the cord that connects my phone with my 'puter or possibly buy a new camera. And then figure out how to post the pix.

I can no longer post a picture here directly from My Pictures. The Attachment function is gone. That means I have to go back to posting the picture in photobucket, and then posting it here. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Bummer, Dude and Dudettes! Somebody changed something. When you click on "reply" look to the left of the box. It now says "Message Icon" instead of "Attachments." Did we get a downgrade?

Actually I just went to a different proboards site, and the Attachment line is supposed to be just above the Message Icon line. It is gone. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Alrighty. That is interesting. When I just posted on the Show Thread, the Attachment line was just above the Message Icon line. Here in "Question of the Day" it is Not There. Which means that I can't post a picture from my saved computer memory. Hmmmmm . . . . If you will recall, all the things I have posted on this thread have been from the internet, not from my personal pictures. Maybe it has always been this way on this thread, and I didn't notice? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)
